Harry has been sick and I'm not sure what to do.
Question:

My Dad has just called me to say that Harry has been sick. Apparently it was quite all frothy. Harry didn’t eat much yesterday but he seemed fine. He had a small handful of meat at about 9pm. My Dad said that he is a bit quiet this morning. I’m not sure what to do. I normally go straight to the vets when Harry is not himself, but I’m not sure if I should wait a while. I get really worried when Harry is sick, I’m paranoid that he is going to get ill again and loose all the weight he has gain.
What would you do? Do you think I would take him to the vets tonight? Or wait to see how he is later? Why are dogs sick?

Teagan sicks up 'frothy' yellow bile when she is hungry.......
I would wait to take him to the vets...see how he is today, or give them a ring if you are worried

Hi,
Archie was sick yesterday,so we didn't give him anything to eat till last night, and just gave him a light meal of chicken and rice, seems his normal self again this morning.
I would see how he goes for the next few hours and if your worried give the vets a ring.
Hope he's better soon.

Hi
Biff is sick just because it's Monday!!!!! He often brings up frothy stuff, i wouldn't think one vomiting episode is too much to worry about. If he's hungry/drinking/motions are normal/not lethargic then just keep an eye. I've had a couple of dogs with BAD gastroenteritis and generally they go right off their food and throw up whenever they stand up. Like the others have said, keep an eye on him today and give him small amounts of food often and check he's drinking okay. If he's sick again, with hold the food and leave it a couple of hours (leave the water down tho'). You can always make an appt at your vets for tonight so you know you've got one , it may put your mind at ease ( i know that's the sort of thing I do!) you can always cancel it if he's okay later.
Try not to worry too much (easier said.....) Hope this helps!

Hi Ickerry this may be connected to Harry's other 'episodes' for which we have never really had a satisfactory answer have we...but it may not be that ..

If he seems well in himself/bright/no diarrhoea/bright eyes/not a tucked up tummy and he is not sick again I would see how he is this evening and if all is ok put him back onto fish/white rice in small amounts at a time for a couple of days introducing normal food gradually.

If Harry has any other symptoms/the sickness continues/you are at all worried always see the vet.

Thanks to everyone for your replies.
If Harry is ever ill I always worry. Harry has always been a bit of a sicky dog so he is constantly on my mind. If he is ever sick or not himself I always think the worst. My OH says I fuss over him too much. I will do as you all said and wait to see how he is today.

I hope this is not connected with the illness he had last year. If the sickness does continue I am going to see a different vet, as Minihaha said I never did get a satisfactory answer, everytime I took Harry to the vets about the sickness and the loss of apetite they just gave me more antibiotics to give to him. This all started in May of last year, it wasn't until August that Harry stopped being sick and his apetite picked up, I'm glad to say he has put on over 1kg since then.

Thanks again

Hi Ickerry, how is Harry now, any improvements ? I hope so x Harry seems fine at the moment perhaps a little quiet. He hasn't been sick since this morning. I bought him some chicken for his dinner and he ate a handful which I was pleased about.
He is curled up asleep on the edge of my bed at the moment.

Thanks for your concern
