Question:
they are so so nosie i wouldn be suprised if he been videoing him out in the garden , but i will bear that in mind if thats the case then they have to prove he is [ althou as you said i aint denying it ] and i did admit to the lady i spoke to but if they see i have the collar barking thing they might lay off me for a bit thanks x If they are then they can't use that as evidence anyway, because it as been done without you knowing and you can take action against them, because it is an invasion of privacy, and your rights,Some neighbours are just impossible,i know exactly how you feel, please try not to worry about it to much.Keep us posted on how you get on.

Dogs always repeat what they find to be rewarding. Barking tends to be a self-rewarding behaviour so it can be difficult to stop it. I would try teaching him that not barking is more rewarding than barking.
Arm yourself with some really yummy treats. It is important that the treats are something very special that he gets at no other time. When the barking starts distract him by clapping your hands, whistling, rattling a can with a few stones in, anything that will cause him to pause in his barking. The instant that he stops put a command on the silence - "quiet", and then reward him with a few treats and heaps of praise. If you are patient, and very consistent, he will learn that "quiet" = no barking and no barking earns him delicious rewards and lots of praise & affection . Once he has thoroughly learned what the command means (and that will take time) you can phase out the rewards giving them to him randomly to ensure that the behaviour is reinforced.

Did you say he sleeps on his own, and you and Ella are upstairs?
That must be distressing for him, if he's spending the rest of the day with you both, and then wondering why he is being left alone.

That must be distressing for him, if he's spending the rest of the day with you both, and then wondering why he is being left alone. Hmmm, that's a possibility - when Snorri-dog was still a "chewing" puppy, he slept in our porch, but his older brother Kali slept in the house. Come the early hours of the morning, when the sun came up (very early, during an Orkney summer!), Snorri-dog greeted the dawn with a fusillade of barks, which would have woken the neighbours, if we'd had any. When we decided we could "trust" him in the house, we moved his bed inside. The barking stopped. Apparently, all he'd wanted was company.

I would really try what mini and SB suggested and really look into ways of training him out of the behaviour also looking into your routine with him and see if there are any changes you could make that may help a little....I think the muzzle etc is all very well but it isn't really dealing with the problem and might actually make him worse in other areas.
