Question:
I've booked young Danster in to see the vet this week but though one of you lot could give me some advice in the meantime.
Danny has always been quite a baldy little boy (underneath). Just this weekend, I noticed 2 tiny little completely bald spots on his tail. The skin isn't red or inflamed but does look dry and scaly.
I know staffords are prone to skin conditions and was starting to wonder if Danny has one? He's fed a good balanced diet, gets plenty of exercise and is a very contented wee chappy so I wouldn't have thought there was an element of stress to this hair loss. He has a strip running from head to tail along his back that seems just that little bit thinner than the rest of his coat. Last time I was at the vet with him, the vet told me to keep an eye on it but it hasn't changed at all.
Anyone any ideas? I'm probably being the neurotic mum but I don't want my wee boy having sore skin.

hi jules
bruno has been rife with skin conditions as does seem to be quite sensitive. if he gets nibbled by any beasties his hair falls out and takes ages to grow back. he is also bald underneath and gets the odd teenage spot there too !!
my boy likes to bit his tail ( when chasing it ) and will happily spen a good 10 minutes trying in vain to catch his tail before settling down for a munch of it - however he never has anything wrong with it - he just likes to munch it ( dont think he realises its attached tohim !!LOL)
( he isnt the brightest bulb in the box !)
he has had skin scrpaings etc for his wee baldy bits but never could work out what it was - i think if gets bitten or scratched his hair just takes ages to grow back but other than that he doesnt seem too bothered. Bruno is worse in the summer

Thanks Dani - sounds like the danny monster is similar to Bruno. Sensitive little souls aren't they! People think staffies are hard men but us owners know different. Bless. Hopefully it'll turn out to be nothing but I always like to check. I knew I should have been a vet! It would have saved me a small fortune over the years
