My pup is 14months old and this winter he is loosing weight i think its down 2 1 of 2things 1 he uses up more energy 2keep himself warm and 4this reason he has lost weight or he has worms, i have changed his feed he is now fed more he eats it all and even licks his bowl clean! but still his weight is the same so i think he might have worms? can any1 tell me some good products? which they have tired themself etc




When was he last wormed? I used to use Drontal, but have now changed to the holistic approach, using 4 seasons for 2 days a month. Or even adding garlic to their food keeps the little wrigglers away.

I always buy the Drontal wormers from the vets because I think they are one of the best and better than the pet shop ones. When I had Sabre I did used to buy some from the petshop but I had to give him about 12 tablets for his weight - thing they were called Canoval or something like that. I think the Drontal are better though and I think they are available to buy on the internet if you aren't going to the vet

Hi Abs, a number of things could cause weight loss, specially underlying medical conditions so before worming him ask yourself when he was last wormed & are you seeing any evidence of them besides weight loss?

Maybe he needs more quantity of food or a different food, could be the one he`s eating now doesn`t suit him?




I was thinking the same - maybe the quantity or quality of the feed isn't sufficient.

By the way, I use Panacur wormer and get this online from either Vetmedic or Hyperdrup (Canine Chemist) as its cheaper than the vets.

Most of the wormers you can buy in pet shops are very weak and not much use - to get an effective wormer you need to buy from a vet or licenced pet shop or licenced online supplier.




i use drontal for diesel and delaney has milbomax(sp)as he reacted badly to the drontal,i get them both from the vets.i agreewith everyone else,ask when he was last wormed and if the weight loss could be connected to the change in food,if you don't think the food is an issueor that he was wormed recently perhaps a check up with a vet could be in order.hope he puts the weight back on

Maybe he needs more quantity of food or a different food, could be the one he`s eating now doesn`t suit him? as 4his food im sure the quality is not the problem i have upped his feed but it hasnt made a difference, before when i wanted 2put weight on him id put him on a raw meat deit for about 1month this would fatten him up very fast but the problem is it takes so long 2get him back of this and back 2dry food, he was last wormed in the summer i think he is now due to be wormed again so i will worm him and take it from there
