Question:
Kia was neutered today. She came out fine. They said she was just coming into season . She is only just 6 months, they also said that her mials were to long and for her age. So they cut them. She gets at least 3hrs+ walks a day two are on tar mck si he said its nothing we are doing. Also he said she had a lot of fat inside her which we should be aware of, he aaid its not dangerous but give her less food or change it and exercise her more. We want to take her jogging but for her age she cnt so wht more cn we do than what we are doing. I am very down as the vet has basically told me I am doing a **** job. What annoys me mre when i brought her in and she gt weighed he said she was in excellent shape and looked even a bit skinny.

HI Ellen
I'm sure you are doing your best. Maybe changing her diet is the only option you have at the moment. Then up the exercise as she gets older.
Don't feel down. As the vet said, the fat was on the inside.. You couldnt know that..
Good luck

Pleased that all went well with the op
Must say though that 3+ hours of walking per day is way too much for a 6 month old pup
Regarding the long nails - it could be that she is slightly down in the pasterns which would mean the her feet are flatter than they should be and not making the correct contact with the ground. If this is the case there is not much you can do about it other than keep them trimmed

Is it the same vet saying one thing and then another? If this is the case, I would be asking him why he is contradicting himself......

Hi Ellenlouise glad the op went well , regarding the nails you could buy a 'human' nail file from Boots and some emery boards and when you are sitting cuddling Kia watching TV or something just gently file her nails to keep them short...it doesn't hurt do a paw at a time .. this way the quick will never grow down or the nails get too long..

Don't worry about the fat inside her...she is still a pup.
When Teagan was netuered they told me she had a lot of fat, but she was only young, and still had a lot of growing and maturing to do.

Hey thanks for all you support guy i meant 2 hrs plus sori and I didnt realise that was to much she gets an hour in the morning and evening. and the garden during the day. She isnt let off the lead during the week as we live in a town. Im glad to know someone else was told that. Ive spoken to a few people and said that its just puppy fat and its inside her so thats why she look thin. Same vet said she looked thin and then she had a bit to much fat inside her when he opened her up. I wasn't there but rang him and he said it shouldnt be anything to worry about, as she is going to be a big dog so will have more fat. Dnt kno whethere it is right or not. Thanks for advice. Just very worried I am a rubbish mum and she should be with someone else. Will start filing her nails.

Your definitely not rubbish at taking care of Kia
Glad her op went well.
Kia looks in very good shape. and in reference to what SB said above, don't go upping her exercise.
I wouldn't feed her any less but the only thing I can think of is to look at the food she has (ingredients ect) see if maybe an improvement can be made there is all I think you possibly could do. She is a lean looking dog so how were you to know she has a bit extra fat on the inside??...Your not a bad mum! Like the others said, most likely puppy fat that she will grow out of??
Don't worry yourself

Thankyou myschievous ! I will change her food she is one nature best at the moment didnt think that would be to bad for her, Mum doesnt seem that bothered which is very fustrating. thanks for advcie
Answers:
Only change it if you think there is good reason to I haven't seen the ingredients of it so I'm not sure...You don't want to risk upsetting her tummy if she is doing well on the food she already has, but if you think there is reason to change and you think she would do better on a different food anyway then that's ok...Just remember, make the change between foods graduall, over about 5 to 7 days.
