Abe not well again - Page 7
Question:

We understand Steve. Don't rush into anything such as eliminating traces of him from your home. Take your time and face each step when you feel strong enough. After my old girl's death the hardest thing was vaccuuming the imprints of her footsteps from the carpet. You will probably smell, hear, and even think you see him for a while yet. Just give yourself time to grieve and adjust to the empty spot in your heart and home.

Why did it happen? There is no answer to that. Be comforted that you did everything humanly possible for him. He had your love for the whole of his, too short, life. You had his love and devotion. He will be in your heart forever, and I hope that, in time. the good memories will shine through the sorrow for you. Try to take some little comfort from the fact that he is now free from discomfort and pain.

Thank you for your kind words-they are very comforting.Im still shocked that he went down hill so quickly with no warning that what he had was terminal. The vet told me last night it is likely he had a tumour in his stomach as he brought up undigested food yesterday afternoon and had been fed 24hrs previous, which would also explain the blood in his stomach-so there was nothing that could have been done to save him.

I feeling in limbo at the moment, not knowing quite what to do next.Didnt sleep very well last night and strange as it sounds-i kept smelling him.I cant bring myself to take his food/water bowls away or even hoover up all his hair on the carpet.

I just dont understand why Abe who i looked after better than some do their own children should of been persecuted like this.Whenever he was ill,he always came first-no matter the expense and over the six years it was a good few thousand pounds.I really thought we had it cracked when the thyroid tablets started working on him and he gained a new zest for life.I know he could be a grumpy pants sometimes, but i loved him regardless.

Sorry to go on,but i needed to vent some emotions. Steve,

Of course you need to vent your emotions and we are all here to help you in whatever way we can.

I can understand you not wanting to move up his bowls, hoover or move his toys because you want anything that was associated with Abe around you, and as much as that is upsetting to see as it will remind you of Abe, it will also be of some comfort to you right now.

We all know how much you loved Abe and please take comfort in that Abe knew that too.

My thoughts are with you Steve.

I'm so, so sorry Steve you have lost your beloved little man - I cannot see this for my tears, as I feel so deeply for you, and wish there was something I could do to ease your pain.

He will be in your heart forever Steve, but he is happy where he is now, knowing you loved him so dearly in this life and cared for him so very much whilst he was on loan for such a short time. You will meet again one day so carry his good memories with you always in your heart. Goodnight and Godbless dear Abe xxx
