Question:
we have been talking about it for a while now, regarding Kim our cross breed. I am interested in learning a little more about it, before we actually join anywhere.
Anyone here that does this?

If she's ball orientated, it will be great for her, and you too. It's fascinating watching the dogs learn how to get the ball to pop out of the box
I tried Luca at it last year. At the time she loved her ball. Unfortunatly, she loved the thought of playing with the dogs at the other side of the park more She'd charge up the run after the ball, pick it up, bring it back and go flying past me to chase after another dog miles away She'd even jump over the lanes to the other dogs running for thier ball In the end it was just a huge game of chase for her. I gave up after a few weeks

Thanks Wolfie. Sorry that it wasnt as successful for you though.
Kim is extremely 'ball' orientated and so long as she has it, she never bothers about the other dogs (in fact, it's our way of keeping her attention on us)
Jake, thanks.. I didn't thinkof looking in the working thread as I thought is was more of a 'training' thing.
Did you need to teach your dog to hurdle beforehand Jake?

Did you need to teach your dog to hurdle beforehand Jake? I know you asked Jake and I hope no-one takes offence to me answering this. Yes, you have to teach Kim to go over the hurdles. You start with one, then build it up until she's jumping over all of them, there and back. This is done on lead to start with. Take plenty of treats, and spare balls too.

Sorry Wolfie, I didn't mean to adress Jake only.
Thanks for answering..
Anyhow, how do I know how high the hurdle should be?
Kim is 28" from the shoulder blade down...

Cumbrian lass: the size of the hurdles reflect the height of the smallest dog in the team. However you wont know who is the smallest in your team until you join! Jake allready knew how to negotiate the hurdles as he also does agility however it doesn't take them long to learn I find a piece of sausage or cheese and loads of praise usually does the trick The class Jake goes to also teaches them the hurdles offlead therefore they wont accept your dog unless he is at quite a high standard of offlead obedience but I guess every club is different!
Have a go and good luck its brilliant fun!

Thanks Jake
Thankfully Kim is very obedient offlead, so I don't need to worry in that respect. My nearest club is almost an hour away from me, so will have a go if I can find it.
Thanks for all your input
