Question:
Timeing coudnt be worse could it, 2 days after we moved into this house Whoopii decided to come into season with no warnings Reeno hadnt even picked up on it. But she came in luckily the dogs werent mixing at all as they had never acctually lived with her in the same room even though they had lived in the same house for 2yr.
Anyway. Disson has been really interested in Whoopiis bits for the last 2ish weeks. We have checked her and nothing. She was on the sofa last night and i noticed she looked a little swollen, on closer inspection shes got MILK Im not impressed at all as she was going to get done its just a good job we didnt get round to taking her to the vets.
She always has phantoms well she has done for the past 3 seasons but she usualy has them as soon as shes come out of season not 6-8 weeks later.
We cant leave Disson in the same room as her if we arent there cos he goes licking her bits, but the other 2 arent botherd so I know theres nothing wrong as Reeno would be the 1st in there. Shes still happy to stay in the room with Barney cos she knows he wont go near her and she wont go near him cos he will growl at her. We just have to keep an eye on her now as in the other house she got really grumpy and would hide stuff like the phone, pc mouse, toys anything she could really, and if another dog went near her she would snap. But then again there were 4 other bitches all in season as well who wouldnt leave her alone.
Shes next due in in March/April and theres no way shes coming in if i get my own way, shes down the vets Jan.

Hi enerosar I am afraid thats what happens with bitches who have phantoms, also the PPs tend to get progressively worse and more severe as the bitch gets older and the chance of getting pyometra increases ..

Hi enerosar I am afraid thats what happens with bitches who have phantoms, also the PPs tend to get progressively worse and more severe as the bitch gets older and the chance of getting pyometra increases .. We have been told that the risk of pyometra increases with age cos of her phantoms we were hopeing she wouldnt have another phantom once she was taken away from the other dogs cos she was on her own this time with no other dog contact so didnt get "humped" like she used to. BUT it didnt work. She is about 7yr old maybe 8 so yes shes getting old to have her done but she in good health other wise, and id rather get her done than loose her to somthing like that.
OH give me boys any day.

hello i just had to reply to this one , we had gemma "done" straight after her first season and have never regretted it, but my friends male dog often shows an interest in her in the same way, do you think its poss that its his hormones or what , untill i read your post i just thought it was normal dog behavior.

I know with my boys every girl they meet they have to check her out and see if shes in season so to me its normal behaviour. BUT saying that Barney is an ex stud and Reeno is a current stud dog so they just want to see whos next, Disson though hes never been used and has never bother with girls I think with him hes only just worked out that bitches have bits missing

Aww timing couldn't be worse could it
Sorry to hear this - after reading Ollys post I remembered that my old girl Brandy often had males interested in her and she was spayed before her first season.

Have you tried an homeopathic remedies? Like Urtica Urens 3C (3c though NOT 30c as 30c increases milk & 3c reduces it!) and Pulsitilla 15c I used these on my Dally bitch with good results (better than the stuff the vet gave me for reducing milk) If you wanted to give homeopathic medicine a go either contact a complementary vet or Dorwest Herbs are good if you ring them up they will give you advice & you can order those two remedies from them too. Just a thought.
