Question:
Just wondering if anyone here feeds home cooked food to their dogs and how it's done? (quantities, recipes, etc.)
thanks

We don’t feed the wheatens home cooked food but sometimes we cook up a big batch of good quality mince beef and add some garlic a bit of an OXO cube and then add some gravy (we use instant gravy for the dogs but you have to watch the salt levels) And then in another saucepan we boil some potatoes, carrots, peas and anything else we have (at the moment they have fresh green beans and broccoli ) And then we freeze it in portions in containers and just defrost it when we need to. And they go mad for it! We normal serve it slightly warm for them as well. It is there absolute favourite meal. I have to say i would love to feed our all home cooked meals.

I give Phoebe home cooked food every day, since she had really bad allergies a while back. Since a change in diet... no more licking her feet or dry skin .
In the morning she has high quality kibble mixed with a very small amount of minced beef, at lunch time she has a couple of teaspoons of natural yoghurt, and I cook for her every afternoon. I cook rice with 3 different veg, plus a protein, e.g. chicken, turkey, rabbit and the all time favourite, sardines. I also sometimes add chicken hearts, and everyday I add salmon oil to her homecooked food, and I can honestly say she has had a turn around in her well being.
Give it a go

She goes absolutely wild for mash...loves it
And on other occasions I cook hotpot or mince & onions with gravy, she likes this too,she loves vegetables either cooked or raw.

I used to cook a lot of the food for an entire kennel
This included porridge with honey,
Scrambled egg,
Sheeps head stew with veg and pearl barley and served with laughing dog meal.
Breast of lamb stew with veg and pearl barley served with laughing dog meal,
Shin of beef cooked slowly and minced then added to the cooking juices and left to set (looks like potted beef)
Oxtail stew with veg and pearl barley (cook the day before and allow to cool then take the fat off before removing the meat from the bones and adding it to the cooking juices.
Whole chicken, pidgeon, sheeps heads or rabbit pressure cooked till the bones are soft then minced bones and all (looks like brawn, very nutritious )
Cooked minced heart and tripe,
Poached fish.
Do not use stock cubes or granuels they contain too much salt

yes half to three quarters of an ounce of food per pound of the dogs body weight per day total allowance for an adult dog ..
an ounce per pound of body weight for a puppy divided between the number of meals due for the puppies age per day.
Puppy feeding..
Age 4-12weeks = 7am / noon / 5pm/ 10pm
Age 3-6 months = 7am/ noon / 5pm
Age 6-12months = 7am/5pm
1 year onwards = 5pm.. plus a snack
You can of course alter the timing slightly to suit your particular circumstances and feed two meals to an adult if prefered or in the winter.
