Autarky - Page 5
Question:

Protein 22%, oil 12%, fibre 3%, ash 6.5% (this is 'Summer' Autarky, for adult dogs)

no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives

They used to have a very informative website with lots of info about all the herbs etc in it, and I thought it was but it stopped working a few weeks ago (at least on my computer!). Has anybody got another link to the Autarky website, I can't get the one above to work either..........had a quick search on google but didn't come up with anything, only stockists!

thats a good price as my local store sells it at £15.99 per bag so to order on line i't's £14.00 plus £2.50 per bag delivered ....think i might pay the extra 51p to save my backache ...........

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but i searched DW for Autarky and this was the nearest!

I always swop pet foods every 2-3 months and today bought a sack of Autarky 'summer' variety.Vegas is a very active dog and have been trying different foods to find one which keeps weight on him.

Burns/JWB & Arden Grange made him too lean.

Bakers kept the weight on him,but he tended to moult more.

So thought i'd try this Autarky summer food which has the added bonus of being VAT free! After reading some comments that their dog gained weight-this maybe an ideal food for Vegas.

Im just about to give him his first meal so fingers crossed he likes it...

Hope he does well on it Steve...I think it's good as far as commercial dog food goes and tried my dogs on it but it gave them both liquid poop, so that was to bad But then they have never had good stomachs on anything commercial! Your boy probably wont be as akward as mine are...lol

I fed Autarky for a while and one of my dogs really gained weight on it and I've been struggling to get the excess pounds off ever since.

Also, it is VERY high in corn/maize content which can prove problematic for some dogs in terms of allergic reactions etc.

Like all fooods, it'll suit some dogs better than others.

I feed mostly BARF diet, but included in this is about 1/3 to 1/2 mugful of Autarky in the evenings, occasionally with either a little raw mince or cooked veg. I use it for my pups too and find it very good.

Mys - its possible that yours had loose stools because of the quantities fed. I hear from lots of people that have this problem (or rather, their dogs do) and I think its because they give too much. My dogs are fine on it but if I give them too much in one meal it will go through them. You don't need to feed as much as you think (or as much as it says on the packet).

I do recommend it.

Ours are on it and we are combining it with Barf and they are fine on it and we think they are in good condition too

Yep, my girls are on it at the moment too, I use Burns but found they all were UNDER weight and actually looked skinny!! So they're on Autarky for a month now, then I'll change back to Arden Grange, but I do wean all my pups onto Burns, never had an upset tummy with it.

I swapped Isla onto about a year ago because she was so skinny and wasn't holding any weight. A GSP person told me to try it...and I thoroughly reccommend it. She put the weight on and her coat is lovely, she has tons of energy but that could be down to breed. Poops are solid. She does seem to get a bit bored with it though and I sometimes have to jazz it up with a bit of mince or chicken. The boys have Sneyds Working Wonder Dog which they do very well on...but I will keep Isla on the Autarky.
I buy it in 15kg bags at £13.99.

Steve..it definitely put the weight on Isla without making her fat. It will be interesting to see how Vegas does on it
