Chicken Bones Advise Please - Page 6
Question:

I know wot you mean Luz, and here in Denmark, we actually have something called "barf centers" where you can buy anything needed in this diet

Even meat with grounded(?) bone in it, for those, like me, who are too "chicken" ( ) to try the bones..

Answers:

What an excellent idea their must be more awareness of it over in Denmark and acceptable. I know there are a few places here which deliver such things but I live in the north and have yet to find one unless anyone out there knows of any?

My two will be feasting on a pile of chicken wings in about 1/2 hour.
They eat any part of a chicken you give them and they love it

There are suppliers of raw food for dogs in this country but most people seem to prefer to feed human quality meat, and who can blame them. After yesterdays fiasco I do not think my dogs are designed for barf they prefer their meat prepared and cooked

I've considered this long and hard and still can't come to an easy solution.

I feed Loki raw AMP (Natures Menu) minced meat with ground bone + cooked/raw vegetables. I have started to reintroduce some brown rice too as I was worried he was looking at little thin - he is very active.

For breakfast I give him a couple of cups of Burns kibble.

I give him a big meaty bone once a week - although last week it was thinner and he ate it. I'm glad to say there were NO ill effects, no sharp bits, it was a complete success, even though I was hovering around his rear end like an idiot.

I also give him cooked liver, Nature Menu treats, Burns Kelties treats, Pig's Ears, some rawhide chews, lots of raw veg for treats, fruit, jerky, tripe sticks. I'm now happy to give raw egg one to two times a week, + cooked.

I'm still learning and adapting to his fitness/general state.

Where do you get the Natures Menu from is it a specialist shop, pet shop or is it in Supermarkets? I think your Loki's diet sounds ideal, will give it a go. Thanks

The Nature's Menu (also known as AMP) is raw minced meats (turkey, chicken, beef, liver, tripe, rabbit, whit efish, chicken and liver etc.) and I get it from the freezer section of my local Pets at Home store (I think that's their name).
I do buy lamb's liver from the supermarket though and he gets tinned salmon, tinned tuna in oil, sardines in oil, and most meaty things in the cheap bin. I haven't given pork but am reconsidering after recent posts on here.

The frozen stuff I buy varies between 62p and £1.05 for 400 g, the white fish being the most expensive.

Edit:
Forgot to say if I give ordinary meat I add ground bonemeal.
If I give tinned fish I don't because there is already bones in it.

Arghghgh forgot to say there are websites that you can buy meat from.
UK BARF Club (Prize Choice) do home delivery and there was another excellent one - Landywood Pet Food.

I have been feeding raw for 3years now, rmbs are pork ribs, pork chops, lamb chops, lamb breast, and neck of lamb, neither of mine will touch chicken portions of any sort, think its the skin that puts them off,but they do have minced chicken necks.
Also get minced beef, lamb, tripe, and chopped heart, eggs and a couple of tins of sardines once a week.
I don,t feed veg,grain or supplements.
All minced meats come from Albion meats, quite a lot cheaper than prize choice,i pay £5 for a 40pound box of tripe.
