i don't know if anyones really heard about the exhibit at central park but if you just google "the gates" you come up with a whole bunch of stuff!
[namely, the artists' website: http://www.christojeanneclaude.net/tg.html ]
ANYWAY, i was lucky enough to get over there today in between classes and it was beautiful!
23 miles of saffron colored gates lining the pathways. i've never seen the park so crowded on a february day. really, it was something else.
so i thought i would share! if you want to see more pictures feel free to ask :D
hi ali
we seen it on tv the other night. i read about it in the sunday paper. it look wonderful to see. it's it like 48 miles long or some thing. i would love to see. thank you for sharing it. :D
have a wonderful day

I like this guys work, no matter how flashy it may be.

i'm furious that still some columnists bad mouth about their work in the newspaper . calling all bad words .
some say it's ugly , just hanging curtains ... or it's like car washing machine ... or .. it's not saffron , it's vomit orange.
some people have no vision about anything , and prefer subestimate what others do.
what does it bother them about the work? envious that they paid from their pockets? it's only 16 days , with no damage ... and it actually adds color to the gray park in this time of the year . What do they complain about ?
I love The Gates . it's interesting , it's public , and it's historical .
Good for us who enjoy it ...

ah vinny i seem to be arguing your side these days!
i got into the "but it was so expensive" argument this morning. what people are overlooking is i've NEVER seen central park that crowded. not even during the summer. it's crazy!
plus, a friend of the family has a hair salon uptown and is booked solid for the next two weeks seeing as people are coming to town just to see this exhibit.
so how i see it is this is even helping the little guy. if my family friend is making money on otherwise dead weeks [february is apparently not the most popular hair cut month] then imagine what businesses like hotels and restaurants are doing!
actually i read somewhere that the carlisle increased their room occupancy from 30% this time last year to 67%. NEW YORK IS ONLY BENEFITED BY THIS! :D
and we all get something spectacular to look at. i recommend sunset, it's just simply beautiful :D :D :D
I've always's liked Christo's work. We had to study his work when I was in Art History..
I'm so envious -- would LOVE to see it! (And then mosey on over to see, Starry Night while I'm there ... someday ... <sigh>) ENJOY!
