Question:
Just wanted to put out an invite for anyone in the area. The West Michigan Psoriasis Support Group is sponsoring a Texas Holdem Poker Tournament in Grand Rapids Mi on March 5. Cost to enter the tournament is $40.00. We have room for 60 entrants and the proceeds will be going to the book project. If you cannot attend, however, would like to sponsor a player, I'm sure I could find some of those type of poker players as well (a lot of poor cops). Anyway I know that a lot of people are big on the poker thing right now, if you can make you are more than welcome to enter. Prizes for the final table will be substantial, just not listed at this point. If you are interrested just PM me, SLowe, or Marielle.
hi brad,
that a wonderful thing your are doing. why is poker getting so big around. the kids at school have poker night. that they meet at a differnent house and play. my son is getting into it to. i just don't find it that fun. maybe because i all ways lose. keep up the good work. brad, SLowe, or Marielle and any one eles that i missed.

We already have a very big response from the two "pd's" that I am associated with on this. If you are a serious poker player and are up for a good time in Michigan on a Sunday, let me know. We are hoping for 64 players and it appears that we will achieve this from preliminary response.
With a lot of donated effort by our group and some of our friends, we hosted an outstanding poker tournament yesterday.
$1252.00 was raised for the book project, this is after the winnings and bills were paid. Not to bad.
In addition, we got some sigs on the petition, passed out some free samples that were donated by one of the local derms (and business cards too). I think a few people gained some awareness of the condition as well. I know a couple of people I talked to told me that they know of individuals with the condition.
Awesome Brad!! so glad to hear that it went well and that so much money was raised!
That's great.
I was reading about p the other day and the article said that only about 60% of people with p seek help after they find out what it is. That means there are a lot of people that we don't know about that have it. They think that since there is no cure and it's usually not life threatening, they think why bother?

Thats True Granny, I think some people with it just deal with it. For those of us that get severe it really becomes an issue, however, like my case for instance. Anyway, the quality of life for those with even a mild case can be improved if they are educated and aware.
I really need to take a second to thank Marielle for all of her help on Saturday. We had a lot of volunteer help but thanks to Marielle a lot of the P awareness was spread. I was somewhat busy with some of the administrative issues, not to mention dealing a little blackjack. Marielle did a lot of talking about the condition and hammered on the petition. I was on overload as it was, thanks to Marielle a lot of the important stuff got taken care of. PS, she was getting players to give up tips for the book too! For some reason no one tipped me.
Well Brad maybe you aren't as pretty as Marielle :p

I feel really bad - I was unable to make it there to help, my PA has been flaring up on me BIG TIME. Thank you Brad & Marielle for working your butts off to get this done, maybe next time I'll be in better shape to be there. :)
