I believe, if my memory is correct, one of our naval admirals was afflicted with a skin disease that caused him to be absent from a battle in ww2. It was either tora tora tora (pearl harbor) or midway, i can't remember. Anyway the movie portrays him hospitalized with it at pearl harbor. Was it P...anyone know.

this is a very interresting link. be sure to click on the part that Mitchum played in Midway. It was depicted as psoriasis, however, in reality it was shingles.
And the admiral was Bill "Bull" Halsey
