Inner Sanctum
Question:

Although I have been personally attacked on this public forum and harrassed by personal messages, I've deliberately sat back to allow this mess to die down. I promised myself I would not fuel the fire. I hoped that all of us involved would appreciate what this site means to all of us and not infect it any further.
I've watched what has transpired in the last few days. And I have kept track of who has responded with venom and who has tried to make peace. Why? Because I felt that everyone deserved a fair chance to prove themselves. I've been friends with all of the parties involved. And although I've received some pretty harsh messages, I still refuse to be dragged into this mess. Please, I am not pointing fingers at anyone. I don't want a single response from this POST!!!!
I am talking about it with people in chat. I won't be a hypocrite. And I am angry about being attacked. But it won't be aired in the forums where we are supposed to be supporting one another. We are all at an emotional high. And we do need to talk about it amoung the people we are comfortable with.
I am very disappointed, but not surprised by the NPF's reaction. We must all understand that they exist because we suffer. I don't truly believe they care what we say. As long as we aren't burning crosses, reviving the Nazi movement or molesting children; they are going to stick their heads in the ground and tell us to "get along". As is my forte to try to be funny, I was relieved not to receive a warning from them!!! Please laugh with me. LOL
I think that their choice of the sites they have closed down is unfair and inappropriate. At this point I think their right to do this should be rescinded. This is our site. They don't wish to involve themselves in this fight. So leave our posts alone altogether!!!
The future of these forums is in our hands. If there is one negative post to this thread, this place is doomed.

Annie,
Your statement is very well worded, and I feel much the same way. I too was attacked publicly on the boards, and refused to dignify this pettiness with a response. That is not the purpose for their existence.
I am truly disappointed in how the NPF has handled this entire situation, but I don't have a better answer for now. I had several posts that were not in the least offensive or mean-spirited that were pulled, and I never received any notification whatsoever from the NPF prior to or after they were pulled. This does not go along with the policy stated above.
When a participant crosses the line of civility and courtesy, we always first notify the poster, and then, if necessary, remove the offending post(s) or thread.
This is nothing less than censorship, and it leaves me very disillusioned. I will be stepping back in the hopes that the NPF decides to become consistent in administering their own policy and adhere to it. I realize that their job has been difficult at best in the past few days, but I feel I was entitled to the notification that is promised.
And yet offensive and petty posting continues uncensored. How do the moderators intend to monitor the posts put up and immediately taken down during non-working hours? The offenders are very aware of this, and take advantage of it. I cannot be a part of an organization that does not abide by its own policies. I hope the moderators will reply to these questions with some serious answers, or my faith in this site is lost.
I have pm'd a copy of this to the Webmaster, and I await a response.

I can honestly say- both as one that has crossed the line and one that has watched the line being crossed-
NO ONE GETS NOTIFIED.
Not on this end. Not a word.
Not a peep. Not a call, a PM. Nothing.
Perhaps that was a mistype in the policy you stated, and that is not the policy??
Im tired.

I will not be sucked into the war that continues here inspite of everyone's claim that it is over. The snide remarks and games continue and that is sad. Pulling threads and proposed reprimands can't change the nature of some. New threads of the same nature are popping up all over. I truly thought that everyone would begin again on a clean slate so that this site could return to a safe place, a fun place, a place of support. I'm not taking sides here. I'm disappointed in all the parties who are carrying this thing on.
I choose not to respond to threats and accusations. However I won't tolerate them much longer. I really love this place. Please don't pm me or send me an email if it is threatening or unfriendly.

All~
Thank you for sharing your feelings with us.
The real issue for us is this: these message boards were created for those dealing with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis to come together, share information, get emotional support, and take care of one another.
Unfortunately, in the last few days, it seems everyone has forgotten our original intentions for opening the message boards. The boards have become a place for bickering, fighting, bashing, and negative sarcasm.
What can we, as the Foundation, do to fix this problem? We have done our very best to remove the offending posts, and let the poster know why. We have done our best to moderate the arguments and fights. We have sent warning after warning to those who have crossed the line. And still, the problems persist.
So, here's what has happened on our end. We have spent hours and hours in the last couple of weeks simply moderating the message boards. These, mind you, are the hours that COULD have been spent doing what we are really here to do, which is work towards our mission. In case you've forgotten it: Our mission is to improve the quality of life of people who have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Through education and advocacy, we promote awareness and understanding, ensure access to treatment and support research that will lead to effective management and, ultimately, a cure.
We can't spend all of our time making sure you play nice on the boards. We simply don't have the time or manpower.
So, PLEASE, take a moment and remember why you came here in the first place, and remember what the Foundation is really here to do.
If you have questions, or comments about any of this, please call me directly at 800.723.9166, ext. 386.
Sincerely,
