PRAYERS FOR OUR PATRIOTS IN THE 'STAN!
In my experience working for the police and being a veteran of gulf war no. 1 I will tell you that the snipers are not the ones that need financial support. Our snipers are well trained and have excellent equipment. The snipers will not be put on the line until they are ready, I can assure you of that.
All we need to do is support our troops over there as an undivided country.
One thing I can tell you about the military now is that it is all volunteer. Those that serve today are proud of that fact. I remember during my recall for gulf one, we spent the first part of our tour in battle creek. When the bombs started dropping I had people hugging me when I stopped at the gas station one day, high fives and stuff.
Our guys need our support, letters of support and encouragement. The last thing that any of us want are lost lives amongst the ranks, however, there is a job to be done. Our guys and girls have the training and equipment to get the job done, we just need to let them know we are behind them and they will do their job in the safest way that they can.
Our death toll during the current conflict has not even come close to the lives lost on sept 11. I wish it was zero, but if you think that sept 11 was bad, I can think of worse disasters that could be inflicted upon our free country.
I will also tell you from personal experience that our men and women in the service are not typically working a 40 hour mon/fri week. These people are putting in tons of effort, way more than the rest of us back home. I just hope that we can get this job done efficiently and quickly. And when complete bring them back as heroes.
Don't send money to the sniper fund, just send a letter to one of our brave solidiers, or show some support to their spouses who are still at home. I know that Renae is in that position and brigets son was wounded. Their familys are heroes too. They make a sacrifice every day to defend our country and the weight of our american soldiers are on their shoulders everyday.
God bless our country and our troops!
misales - I couldn't have said it better myself.
