Question:
Just happend to check my email today and this is what I found......
"the 29th at 2pm sounds like a winner to me
-Jim"
Jim is a guy from Grand Rapids that bought a psoriasis pin on ebay back in early november.
I have been inviting him to all of our meetings, just one email each time, he hasn't been able to make them until now. I invited him to our January meeting on the 29th the other day and this is his response.
Just sort of made my day. I have no idea of his background other than he had a big enough reason to buy a psoriasis pin on ebay and he's from Grand Rapids.
Yeah, another person joining our group.
That's great news!! Even myself....I have been so quiet about this disease. Keeping it all inside of me, never talking about it because of my shame, my humiliation, my embarassment about it. But now... I don't know. I'm almost becoming a salesman, a spokesman, an evangelizer for the NPF and for psoriasis in general. Today, I have directed 2 people to the web-site. During Christmas and New Year's, I brought another two. When I talk about this openly and freely... I'm finding others talking about it openly and freely. It's really pretty awesome! So, thank you to all of you who take the time to bring awareness to this disease to others who may be suffering with it, to others who don't have it but are now made to understand it, to create a support group in your area to offer advice, guidance, a shoulder to lean on, an ear to listen to the frustrations of dealing with this disease, to offer to those a chance to cry, to laugh, to learn and to live with this disease and beyond this disease. All of your efforts, be it small or large, are appreciated and will be rewarded.
Blessings,
Joe
Brad,,,you just have that way about you,,,,gosh,,,you have such energy in what you do,,,, :)
Yeah, good for you Brad! :) :) :)
Just got an email on the email address for the support group. Maybe another member....we'll see I guess. Not sure how she was refferred, ebay? npf? Well it looks like the group is growing and that is good.
What a great week! I am really looking forward to our next meeting, 2 weeks away!
Is there a group in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area??
C..W..U........yes there is. It is led by David Bruce. The only time I have seen him on the boards is when I discussed the support group contract with the NPF...since then he has dissappeared into oblivion. From what I understand he has a large group in DFW. I used to be on the support group listserve and I could have found him on there I'm sure but we got the boot recently (it's a long story). I would highly recommend that you call the NPF for info or you might be able to make contact through the website. I met him in San Diego and he is a really nice guy. I was impressed with his organization.
Update on the lady who emailed me....she found me on ebay, one of the psoriasis auctions, I think the Michigan bracelet. She's from Farmington Hills, a little bit to far from us, anyways she was refferred to the NPF and to Brian Massermans group. Hopefully she can get some help or P socialization there.
Thank you!
'nother ??? (have mercy on me; still learnin') -- p pins?? Bracelets??
