I wanted to move my post from the Psoriasis Board to here, but did not want this response to get lost, so I took the liberty of copying it. I hope Mitch doesn't mind.
The real problem is that the NPF won't abide by thier own rules and guidelines. This is just metal mast.....ion.
I thought putting this message actually on the board might get it seen better by someone who can actually take some action. The message is important.
I would like to ask if the NPF moderators intend to enforce the above Rules and Guidelines by assigning consequences to not following them. This question has been posed on another thread where it was pulled, so perhaps this is the place to address it. I think many members who have thought highly of the NPF are becoming disillusioned by a lack of response on this issue, and we deserve an answer. I realize that there may be some work behind the scenes to accomplish this, but letting the membership know what is happenning would certainly help relieve some of this frustration.
I appeal to the NPF to keep its membership informed on this matter.

I keep thinking is it worth it? I have spent the whole night upset over the place that use to be comforting, friendly, and supportive. It is no longer that!
I now turn to weather I should devote considerable energy to change what I see as wrong or pick up and leave. There is so much work that needs to be done and so many better things where I can devote my time, energy and expertise. I was reminder that I should keep my eye on the bigger picture from a dear friend, although I agree in theory, if we don’t stop this cancer NOW there will be no one around or willing to fight the more important battles that need to be fought!
NPF has been a wonderful resource in my fight against psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis but to often it has also been a source of great pain. It is quite obvious to me that anything and everything can be posted to the boards with immunity with exception of criticism of the NPF. How can thing ever hopes to get better if the NPF refuse to acknowledge there is a problem?
The NPF has setup a guideline for rules and regulation for using the boards. Everything is in place to monitor and control the sight. Everything is in place that in needed except the will. How can I as a member expect the NPF to fight for me on the national scene when they won’t take control of those things they can stop at home? As long as these transgressions are allow to continue they will escalate. Right now there is no policy on rules and regulations. They have been rendered moot because they are not enforced. Your moderator will allow racist posts in the form of offensive jokes and other comments but will not allow criticism of our organization. Only after much wrangling were they pulled but left the rest of the thread behind filled with reminder of what was pulled. This form of circle the wagon strategies is counter productive, and well lead to many good people leaving the organization. That migration is well under way, it is time to stop the bleeding and turn things around.
You wants us to march with you to Washington, to advocate with a letter writing campaign to our elected officials, but will censor those who dare to criticize. If that the case count me out and take me off the membership list!
I truly believe that leadership doesn’t understand how important these boards are to so many people. This is the place where we come for support not pain! You have the responsibility to ensure that this place is safe from those who would inflict pain with vulgar words and cruel comments. Ideas are not offensive but censorship is! I respect all point of views as long as they are done with civility. Passion for an idea or position is not a problem, vulgarity is!
I expect to see some major changes in the way posts and responses are handled not in a month or a week but immediately. This is an on going problem, which has been ignored for over a year. Yes the board’s heat up and emotion then dies down. Letting them run there course is not the solution. I take Humera, I don’t stop taking it when my psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis are under control. I wouldn’t treat my psoriasis that way and this site shouldn’t me monitored that way either. Action is need now!

You tell me what was wrong with this response think the NPF needs to expand it’s code of behavior for these boards, with a policy of reaction to the bad and offensive language. I suggest the following:
1st offense a warning via PM from the Web administrator
2nd offense within six months a 1-week suspension of priv1lges to post and or entrance into the chat room.
3-rd offense 1 month suspension of privileges to post and or entrance in to the chat room.
4th offense a 6 month suspension of privileges to post and or enter into the chat room.
Having rules without any possibly of punishment will continue this spiraling downward trend and continue to turn off many people. Most time the people being turned off are not the combatants but newbies and other innocent bystanders.
I know that on occasion I have responded in an inappropriate way. I don't make apologies for what I said only in the manor it which it was written. Passion in what we believe or stand for is fine but we must all be responsible for our own actions and face consequences if we don't respect the rules.
This behavior can not be tolerated any longer. It is now time for the NPF to step in and regain control of it boards! Now if anyone want to discuss my point of view just PM and I will forward my telephone number and we can discuss it!

Forwarding PMs though can be pretty useless as you can edit the content to anything. If you still have the orginal PMs just let the Webmaster know and he can look at them there so he can see exactly who send it and what was excatly said.
If your getting harrasing Emails you have to get ahold of who ever hosts your Email server. and again they need to see the orginals for the same reason. for same reason forwarded messages can be altered by the person forwarding them so they are not very relibable.
I moderate a message board myself and when things like this come up it is not easy to handle. And normaly we hier on the side of just let them members work it out as they are all adults and not get involved until its needed. and up until now I dont think we have needed any intervention from the board admin until the racsist and personal insults recently started.
so while I can say that intervention by the board admin is needed at times. It should be few and far between.

I have a plea to the NPF too. There is a certain thread on the conversations board that continues on with sarcasm and much insincerity directed at a few here. I still cannot understand how this thread carries on with impunity. It is a thread that lends itself to antagonism. I had a thread removed recently and still do not understand why. If the reasons are that it started some antagonism then why doesn't this other thread get pulled?
I would like a response please.

Are we any closer to a resolution? It's becoming more and more difficult to come here for anything other than pettiness and fighting. I realize the NPF has to go through certain procedures to come to some sort of solution, but please help us out here! :( :confused:
First, we would like to apologize for taking some time to get this response to you. Due to some internal staff transitions, we have been less attentive than usual in our moderation of the message boards. However, we are now back to smooth sailing.
The message boards are monitored daily, and our posted guidelines are always in effect.
Over the past few days, a series of posts and threads that were in violation of our guidelines have been removed from the message boards. Our guiding principle is to take a hands-off approach and let this vital community manage itself as much as possible.
When a participant crosses the line of civility and courtesy, we always first notify the poster, and then, if necessary, remove the offending post(s) or thread. The Foundation uses its own discretion to determine whether this guideline is being respected. Each incident is considered individually. Posts are not deleted arbitrarily. We prefer to use a laissez-faire approach, letting board users work things out with each other. However, the Psoriasis Foundation reserves the right to terminate participation in the message board for individuals who are judged, solely at the discretion of the Psoriasis Foundation, to be in violation of these guidelines.
Just as in your daily life, there will be times when you and your friends/peers/associates are not getting along. Please remember that you have the option of ignoring posts and PMs, and sometimes that may be the best response when someone is rubbing you the wrong way or being disrespectful. You also have the option of reporting posts that you see as problematic. We read every reported post we receive.
The message boards are a place to joke around, share honest opinions, have serious conversations and participate in debates. But respect for one another and respect for the community is essential. Civility and courtesy are expected and required.

Thanks Eve, you said it much better then I would have. I just replied with we not running a day care center here. we moderate adults not 2 year olds that havent had there nap yet.
Dont like some peoples posting sytle dont read there posts. I dont read 70% of the posts on this board. am afraid to see how some of you deal with people in your everyday life. I tell you I deal with people all day I dont really care for or get along with but part of being all growed up is being able deal with them. also how many threads do we need to talk about this, that starved for attention you need your own thread on the matter. I think they should have deleted more of them we dont need 10 of them on each fourm. I opened the convo. fourm and thought it was the "ask the NPF for a responce" fourm.
bans should be rare. If you dont like someone elses option on somthing your just going to have to deal, someone else disagree's with yours, agian deal.
I dont condoun personal insults or overly vile comments and those shouldnt be tolorated. So if you think that has happen to you point it out to board admins. they look at it and if there is a problem with it they will act. but as a person that has to moderate a message board there is many times I have told people you may have been upset by what was said but it was not a personal insult. so just becuase you dont like something doesnt mean they admins or going to fall over themselfs just to accomdate you. but I do not know what has been said in private between memebers so I can comment on how that was handled by the NPF moderators but I can say so far they have done just fine.

I will keep posting over and over again, if there is no response or it gets lock down. If I do not receive a response in a timely manor, (24 hours on a work days and Monday it it’s a weekend. I will continue to post until I do. Everyone not just me is entitled to a timely response. Nobody likes to be criticized but there are time like the current series of problems with these threads when private phone calls, private PM and E-mail don’t get results I will use the public boards!
Fourth. Like it or not there will post from time to time from be that have to do with politics. Like it or not NPF has laid down the gauntlet on politics. It is all over our website. Capital Hill Day, letter writing campaigns, alliances with drug companies and other organizations, this is all politics. Politics effect everything we do, I will not ignore it.
As I have stated before I don’t care if anyone likes me or not. I know I will never get along with everyone, nor will I try. There is no point wasting my time or effort. I will treat you with respect as long as deserve it and reciprocate. If you don’t like the statement to damn bad!
There is too much work to be done. Mindless blather is ok if that ALL that you are capable of. Fun and games are fine but there is work that has to be done first and NPF first goal is to help those who are suffered with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis to live with their diseaseas best we can. As members we should do everything we can to help our organization or why be a member?
The NPF is not charged in their charter to operator of a playground for psoriasis children to play in. Homework has to be done first! Writing letters, going to Capital Hill Day, these are the priorities!

I love you, man, but I have to disagree. I was personally insulted in a post, and yet that person continues to post, with no consequences that I am aware of, while my posts with valid issues and no negativity are pulled. I am awaiting a response from the NPF on that issue, and I hope it will be addressed.
I have a copy of the post where I was insulted, and I intend to keep it for future reference. I'm sure this person knows who they are, and I hope their conscience is keeping them awake. I refuse to lower myself to the same level.
I say that most of the question threads to the NPF were redundent and on message boards if you open a new thread on a topic that is already being discused you are SPAMMING the board. There is no need for them and they cludder the board and use up resources.
I also said I have not seen everthing that has been said so I am not commenting on all, but I can say I have seen alot of them and my take on it is persons my not have liked what was said but they were not personal insults. and there is a big diffrence between the two, just because you feel insulted by something doesnt mean that it is. again I have had many people on my board cry foul to me and I have had to reply with to them with NO you just dont like what said but it did not break any rules.
as I see it (and this is an examples)
someone saying you burn small kittens and beat puppies is and insult.
saying something like talking Med X is dangerous and not a smart move for anyone to take it, is not an insult.
those are general examples but you get the gist. but agian one is an insult that would needed to be looked at by the board admin, the 2nd is not.
agian I dont know everything that was said.

Thanks Eve, you said it much better then I would have. I just replied with we not running a day care center here. we moderate adults not 2 year olds that havent had there nap yet.
Dont like some peoples posting sytle dont read there posts. I dont read 70% of the posts on this board. am afraid to see how some of you deal with people in your everyday life. I tell you I deal with people all day I dont really care for or get along with but part of being all growed up is being able deal with them. also how many threads do we need to talk about this, that starved for attention you need your own thread on the matter. I think they should have deleted more of them we dont need 10 of them on each fourm. I opened the convo. fourm and thought it was the "ask the NPF for a responce" fourm.
bans should be rare. If you dont like someone elses option on somthing your just going to have to deal, someone else disagree's with yours, agian deal.
I dont condoun personal insults or overly vile comments and those shouldnt be tolorated. So if you think that has happen to you point it out to board admins. they look at it and if there is a problem with it they will act. but as a person that has to moderate a message board there is many times I have told people you may have been upset by what was said but it was not a personal insult. so just becuase you dont like something doesnt mean they admins or going to fall over themselfs just to accomdate you. but I do not know what has been said in private between memebers so I can comment on how that was handled by the NPF moderators but I can say so far they have done just fine.

HERE IS MY DECLARATION:
First. I will not be going anywhere! I will be here to support the NPF and other member who need it. I will be a lot more vigilant and will respond more forcefully to anything I consider to be in bad taste, bigoted or to any deliberate misinformation.
Second. I will not apologies to anyone for the passion in which I answered any post or thread I have started. If I offended anyone with my thought, ideas or comment, TO DAMN BAD!
I do make apologies if I have posted misinformation or used inappropriate language or if my language was off color that I will apologies for. I would hope that my comment and responses fall within the guidelines that were set by the NPF has posted on the boards and will be set forth in the future policy. And hope and pray that new guidelines will be strictly enforced!
Third. Weather the NPF likes it or not. I will be posting criticism when I think it is merited and will highlight those problems to create a public discussion. I will keep posting over and over again, if there is no response or it gets lock down. If I do not receive a response in a timely manor, (24 hours on a work days and Monday it it’s a weekend. I will continue to post until I do. Everyone not just me is entitled to a timely response. Nobody likes to be criticized but there are time like the current series of problems with these threads when private phone calls, private PM and E-mail don’t get results I will use the public boards!
Fourth. Like it or not there will post from time to time from be that have to do with politics. Like it or not NPF has laid down the gauntlet on politics. It is all over our website. Capital Hill Day, letter writing campaigns, alliances with drug companies and other organizations, this is all politics. Politics effect everything we do, I will not ignore it.
As I have stated before I don’t care if anyone likes me or not. I know I will never get along with everyone, nor will I try. There is no point wasting my time or effort. I will treat you with respect as long as deserve it and reciprocate. If you don’t like the statement to damn bad!
There is too much work to be done. Mindless blather is ok if that ALL that you are capable of. Fun and games are fine but there is work that has to be done first and NPF first goal is to help those who are suffered with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis to live with their diseaseas best we can. As members we should do everything we can to help our organization or why be a member?
The NPF is not charged in their charter to operator of a playground for psoriasis children to play in. Homework has to be done first! Writing letters, going to Capital Hill Day, these are the priorities!
Rather than being burnt out the fire has been rekindle hotter and brighter than before!

I love you, man, but I have to disagree. I was personally insulted in a post, and yet that person continues to post, with no consequences that I am aware of, while my posts with valid issues and no negativity are pulled. I am awaiting a response from the NPF on that issue, and I hope it will be addressed.
I have a copy of the post where I was insulted, and I intend to keep it for future reference. I'm sure this person knows who they are, and I hope their conscience is keeping them awake. I refuse to lower myself to the same level.

I say that most of the question threads to the NPF were redundent and on message boards if you open a new thread on a topic that is already being discused you are SPAMMING the board. There is no need for them and they cludder the board and use up resources.
I also said I have not seen everthing that has been said so I am not commenting on all, but I can say I have seen alot of them and my take on it is persons my not have liked what was said but they were not personal insults. and there is a big diffrence between the two, just because you feel insulted by something doesnt mean that it is. again I have had many people on my board cry foul to me and I have had to reply with to them with NO you just dont like what said but it did not break any rules.
as I see it (and this is an examples)
someone saying you burn small kittens and beat puppies is and insult.
saying something like talking Med X is dangerous and not a smart move for anyone to take it, is not an insult.
those are general examples but you get the gist. but agian one is an insult that would needed to be looked at by the board admin, the 2nd is not.
agian I dont know everything that was said.
you know I love you all but thats how I see it.
