Question:
I was just wondering what some had planned for New Years Eve?
DH and I may go out to dinner, and I have some raspberry champagne from an Ohio Winery, on Lake Erie to enjoy!
Happy New Year everyone!
We usually stay home-just the two of us. We got tired of drunk, oxbnoxious people and usually stay home for all holidays.
We have our anniversay coming up on Tuesday. Sometimes we go out-sometimes we don't!!!!!
As entertainment capital of Western Monmouth County, I now will be hosting New Years Eve for about the 12th time since we've been in this house [14 years]. I started hosting because I hate going out on a night where everyone will be drinking. Me included. So we started inviting neighbors and friends years ago. Now all our kids are teens [and some are driving] so this is my way of keeping them under close supervision.
We've invited three other couples with their kids and my kids are inviting some of their friends. We've got tons of balloons, hats and blowers!!
Here's our menu [I type up all my menus so I don't forget anything]:
Adults:
Baked Brie topped with apricots, cranberry, hazelnuts & brandy
Crab Spread on Cayenne Toasts
Sausage Cheese Balls
Shrimp Cocktail w/ dipping sauces
Roasted Butterflied Pork loin rolled w/ a Trinity of Roasted Pepper, Roasted Garlic, Spinach, Blue Cheese and Cognac
Grilled Asparagus
Four-Cheese Baked Bow Ties
Kids:
Pop Corn
Tacos and Salsa
Ham & Salami Stuffed Breads
Pepperoni & Cheese
Bagel Dogs
Taquitos
Veggies and Dip
Macaroni ‘n Cheese
Meat Balls
BBQ Chicken Wing
Buffalo Chicken Wings
White & Sweet Potato Latkas
Desert:
Cheese Cake
Pecan Bars
Peanut Butter Cookie Bars with Nestle Chips
Reeses Peanut Butter Candy
Strawberry Tarts
Champagne & Sparkling Cider
HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!!
Karen, can I come over to your house?? :) We don't do anything usually and this year is no exception. Our 5 year old was sick yesterday and today it's our 7 year old. I guess there's a really nasty stomach bug going around and some people have been hospitalized because of it. Although, I think I'm going to stop at the store on the way home from work and pick up a bottle of wine for myself. :)
Karen, am on my way...don't start without me!!! YUM!!!
Like Deb, I'm taking my husband out to dinner. We live in the restaurant district, so it's just five minutes down the road:) Am thinking prime rib, a glass of red wine.
Have fun everybody!
Sue
We are going to the movie " National Treasure" and will have a huge Pop Corn. When we get home we will have a bowl of ice cream and clean out the refrigerator and cupboards and either toss in the garbage or donate to the food bank all of the "Bad" food because tomorrow we start a diet. AGAIN!
Margaret

When we were teens we could invite anyone that we wanted. It was more or less a New Year's Eve open house. Now that we're all older, we still spend New Year's Eve together as a family. (Only now it's much quieter since my parents are in their 80's and not it the best of health.) It's a very nice tradition. Good for you and Ken!
Mike
Come one -- Come All!!! I'm still blowing up balloons. We'll be sure to take pictures.
Ken and I just came back from a bike ride. It's 53.6 degrees outside. Although its gorgeous, I wish I could keep the food and spirits cold in the garage. My fridge is overflowing.
I'll be haning at home watching Dick Clark's rocking New Years Eve, alas without Dick.
Hope he's feeling better soon.

1 Attachment(s) This pork was stuffed with roasted peppers, roasted garlic, spinach, cognac & blue cheese. Somehow the picture doesn't do it justice. I should have taken a picture of it sliced. It was yummy!!
