Christmas of 1994 I was living on my own for the first time ever after my marriage of twenty five years ended. I was managing a convienience store in a small town in North Central Washington. I knew a family with seven kids. The parents weren't working and there would be no Christmas dinner or presents for the kids.
People came and went from the store all week and asked if I had any plans for Christmas. I replied that I did not. Then I started thinking about what I could do to help the family that was down on their luck. I started telling people about them and donations started pouring in. By Christmas Eve the people in that small town had given me over five hundred dollars for the family. I went Grocery shopping For Christmas dinner and more and then to Walmart to get gifts for the kids. There was money enough left to pay their utility bills. I think that was the best Christmas I ever had.

Ive had a lot af great Christmas memories but so far this Christmas im sure will provide me with the best memories. I read an article in a local newspaper and decided that im pretty lucky and should do more to help others who arent. I have always tried to do good things for people who are less fortunate. I usually take a week off at this time of year and go somewhere because I dont have a very large family that I am still close to. This year After reading this article I took the money I had planned on spending frivolously on myself on a vacation that would be forgotten within months, I bought gift certificates. I may not be able to help everyone I wanted to but I did all I could and that made me very happy. More so than A week long trip would have.

i love doing for others for christmas and i love teasing and making people guess. i got a guy here a new guitar amp and sent it to his wife to give to him and i been driving him crazy writhing clues and hanging them up everywhere . lol but when it comes to me getting a gift i cant take anything from anybody . i get weird and freaky . i either make them take it back or get mad or imbarrased or somthing . i guess it comes from haveing a weird childhood and having bad christmasses or somthing . ever heard of anyone like that ?

Lottie, that is wonderful. What a generous and giving person you are!
jrs, my boyfriend is just like you. He loves to spoil people with lots of presents but doesn't like to receive gifts. (Works out good for me! just kidding, I buy him stuff anyway!)
I honestly can't think of my favorite Christmas memory, isn't that sad? I guess I will have to make this one worthwhile and let you all know next week what I come up with :)
