Question:
Just wanted to report that our second meeting for our support group went great. We had nine new people attend the meeting, one couple driving in from 80 miles away! Just goes to show the need for local groups to be started in more cities. Six people found out about our group from the support group pages on this site. So the support of the NPF is really working out well for us.
The NPF has so far provided flyers and brochures for our meeting. In January they will be doing a mass mailing to NPF members in our area announcing our group. The amount of support and assistance I've received from the people at NPF has been so tremendous to this point, and I know it's only going to grow. Even though we've been making efforts at a local level to advertise the group, we wouldn't have had half the attendance last night if it wasn't for the NPF.
So thanks to the staff at NPF for all you're doing to help our group grow. I know the alliance between local groups and the NPF is going to foster new opportunities for education and community for P/PA sufferers, and it's going to be a mutually beneficial relationship.

What types of things are you discussing at the meetings?

Thanks for the well wishes, Karen! Discussions are still getting to know you type of things, as we're still so new. But we also talk about where to find info, what treatments everyone's one, what works, etc. We also talked about future meetings, what everyone would like to see addressed, possible future speakers, and how we can get involved in our community.
Diana, Brendalynn and I also try to get information out about what events are coming up and how to get involved. Ed Reiss and Ed Anderson were a fantastic addition, as they're both so knowledgeable and gave a lot of excellent information and clarification on many subjects. I was thrilled at their participation.
