Question:
I would like to know what people enjoy.
Collecting-making things-whatever
I have a collection of butterflies, snowmen, roosters and sewing things.
I have about 50 snowmen-I put them out at Christmas
Tons of butterflies, I decorated a bathroom with them
Roosters in my kitchen
These things are glass, ceramic or metal
My craft room is decorated with old sewing things-thimbles, yardsticks and rulers, etc.
I love crocheting and quilting and some other sewing, not clothes. Reading. I am writing a book on our genealogy(that's why I am at my computer so much) ;)
What do you do or enjoy?

Great Thread Granny....
Currently I'm into knitting. I learned to knit when I was a teenager, learned to crochet when I was about 10. I've done all kinds of craft stuff and sewing over the years. Gave it up as the P got worse. They have such awesome yarns and fibers available now and last week I decided to try knitting again to see if my hands would co-operate. I'm halfway done with a shawl I'm making out of an eyelash yarn. When this project is finished, I want to try something challenging, I'm searching for patterns for illusion knitting.
I'm also into itching, scratching and flakeing if you can consider that a hobby...... :)
Granny,,,,the main thing I have are tons of are frames,,,I love pictures,,,if I had my way,,they would be all over,,,I'm trying not to have to many things around,,,,to much dusting,,,,
I collect all kinds of things and attempt to sell them on ebay when I have time. Nothing special, however, preferably useful, unique, and of value.
I collect antiques...My biggest collection is about 50 old rolling pins. Some of my antiques I do sell on ebay if I can bear to part with them....
Oh and my kitchen is totally primitive americana...I also have stared to collect primitive rag dolls...My girls think they look freaky...LOL!!! I told them that is how they are supposed to look...
I love to read, and enjoy doing computer art with Paint Shop Pro...
First of all I spend way too much time right here at the computer.
I collect exotic birds. My ever growing aviary consists of Australian, Central American and African finches and different varieties of Australian Grasskeets. They take a lot of my time. I also enjoy ceramics and decorative (Tole and One Stroke) painting. My kitchen, like Granny's is decorated with Roosters. I like the ones that look lifelike, not cartoony or sureal. I collect resin and bisque Fairies, Butterflies and Frogs to paint and give as gifts to friends and family who collect them. I love to cook and create new recipies and collect recipies from others.

Hi everyone,
My main hobbies include coaching gymnastics part-time (I understand I'm not the only coach around here!), making lotions and lip balms, any outdoor activities (hiking, fishing, boating, camping, rollerblading, walking, etc.) and just plain spending time with my family and friends. I also spend a lot of time on my computer, that seems to be a common thing with us people around here! Good idea for a thread, I'm still learning about everyone and getting to know everyone. Great way to do it!
I'm not a hobby oriented person since my days are spent at work and then with the kids. Anything that makes my kids happy is a hobby of mine. The one and only hobby I have is golf. I love to play golf, but I haven't had as much time to play recently.
Chaim,,,,say thank you Arlie,,,for teaching you all this!!!! lol
When I was a little kid, all I ever loved was collecting bugs in an old clean Hellmann's mayonnaisse jar with holes punched into the lid. I eventually graduated to collecting old foreign coins and currency. Nowadays, I like to find old strange, unusual things to show to my religion ed classes. Widows mites, relics, unusual rosary beads, statues of saints.... anything that would spark some interest in teenagers that is probably not being taught or shown in other classes of this sort....
Joe
P.S. - ...neat thread, Granny!
I'm with Chaim -- the only thing I ever do is cater to my kids, which I love. I'm always offering to let them have friends over and I spend most of my spare time driving them to/from and then watching their activities. I haven't even been able to read a book in two months. The only way I can read is if it's a book on tape that I listen to on my way to work. In my other spare time I like to cook, entertain and exercise. That's about it. I'm sure there will be a time in my life when I can concentrate on "ME" but that time's not now. :)
I'm like Karen was very involved with my children.........in looking back over the years, hobbies change with lifesyle changes...when my kids were small....I was mother first...and read a lot....learned to cook on my own...
when the youngest was 10 I decided mom needed to work again outside the home( I worked the first three years we were married prior to kids)
so I turned a fascination of art into a hobby that also made money! there was 10 years between my daughter and the youngest (son) she was going to spend the summer with my sister and mother in Florida and learn to do portraits from my sister.....while she was down there I decided to try portraits...gave my son 25 cents to sit for me.... :D I also used a mirror since I could sit still .....
that was the beginning of my art career....a little late in life... but I got past the pencil stage that so many artists get stuck in......
from there I went on to trying other art besides portraits and found I loved doing illustrative work....so that's where I am now. (Psoriasaurus book)
I also like the computer and spend a lot of time learning photoshop and CorelDraw.... two photo/art programs.....however I do not use the computer to draw with....I prefer to draw and paint the art then scan it in for use with making greeting cards, tee shirts, or prints for framing......it has been a very fun way to make extra money........and many adventures.....!
Sally, your art is SO awesome! Please post some more for us!
I have everything from Elvis, Marilyn,J.Wayne etc to Psoriasaurus, kids nursery rhymes, herbs, fruits, flowers greeting cards etc....turn of century damsels, teddy bears, the list goes on...any requests?...I'll see if I have it!
right now I'm working on a portrait of one of our members' sister that died.... it's a Christmas gift for the parents.....then I switch over to the book....now I have a couple old customers that want some of the prints and greeting cards but don't think I'll have time...I get antsy when the work piles up...bye

Karen, lol, yup there might be a time in your life when you can concentrate on yourself if you don't have to baby sit your grandchildren & then after that,
you'll probably have CRS & say, "now what was it that I had planned on doing when I have time on my hands". LOL

Assistance Team) for the Skokie Police Dept.(my nick name then was "Black Eyes) & collecting knick knacks & lots of CLOWNS & cooking. Now, I'm limited on some of them. Ha Ha, re. the puzzles, forget it with my CRS. LOL

Well, I guess the strangest hobby was digging in an old dump...loved that...
I also like to restore old photos, I have done lots of family photos that were ripped and torn...I also do tintypes that come out great...(all this done on the computer of course)
I used to paint on wood and slate...Did pretty good selling the stuff...
Now, I am trying to learn woodcarving...That is fun too...In a class with all men...they get nervous when I get my sharp knives out...
Also like doing the family tree...
Oh, well, those are a few of my favorite things...
Molly , my dad did that all his life! We live on a back road and there is a dump on it (not supposed to be) and dad was always finding stuff and bringing it home....He actually found a piece of local pottery that was cracked, and I sold it on ebay after he was gone for 50$...He found some pretty good stuff in his life...It is amazing what people will toss out...
Before my feet got so bad we loved to go to flea markets, yard sale and junk stores. We called it junking. We found some good "junk".
I also like to do needlepoint, cross stitch and I'm a NEWS junkie. I watch news all day, if I'm at home. I want to know everything that is going on.

I don't have time for too many hobbies. I work full time and when I get home from work, my kids take up 95% of my time. I do get a little time to get on the computer and to cook dinner. That's about all the time I get to myself. I need a vacation :D
Years ago ,my mother use to have under our tree,,,lead ice skaters,,,she would put a piece of glass down and put them on it,,,I've searched all over for these,,cause when she passed away,,,somehow,,,someway,,,they vanished,,,does anyone remember them,,,that has been my wish to find them,,,I've searched in Texas,,,old flea markets in Pa. just about every town I see an antique shop I would go in,,,can't find them,,,did anyone ever see them???? I think if I could wish for something,,,I would wish for that,,,,My daughter collects Angels,,,her shop is called Angelic Care,,,it's all decorated in Victorian antiques,,,,Angels all over,,,every year I buy her a rare one to hang on her tree,,,she leaves her tree up all year around,,,she has 2 antique fireplaces,,,,an antique mirror and wood vanity about 100 yrs old,,,all carved wood,,,that's in the cutting room,,,on her tree she has all victorian decorations,,,shoes,,,handbags,,,furniture,,,hats, ,,angels,,,,hand blown glass balls,,,,it's so pretty,,,,,,, she also collects unique Santa's,,,BTW WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSE TO BE TALKING ABOUT,,,HERE I GO AGAIN,,,IS THIS THE CPR THREAD,,,,LOL :D :D :D :D
Great thread from a great lady!
It seems I've enjoyed lots of crafts & hobbies at various times in my life. Ceramics, needlepoint, cross stitch, macrame, crocheting, sewing, gardening, stained glass, crossword puzzles, fishing (with the boys when they were young), sketching. But above and beyond all of that is my unquenchable thirst of reading. I love to read. When people ask me about a television program or a sports event I'm usually ignorant to its very existance. My nose is stuck in a book.
Triathlons!
Just came home from a 7 mile run in a beautiful snowfall!!! My next race is this weekend and will most-likely be the last race of the season. But it's been a great one and this winter will give me plenty of time to get ready for next year.
WOO HOO!
Oh Arl,
It doesn't matter which thread you post something on. :p We'll read it anyway!
Are you talking about real skates or figurines?
