Hang em all.....now is the time..
Question:

It is now time. Went to Menards yesterday and got me a good deal on some rope. Rope Lights, 100ft to put on my deck. They'd be up by now but people can't stop shooting at each other, I guess its a thanksgiving thing. Anyway, I'm sick of the cheap junk....Rope light and I'm gonna leave it there. I will be lighting it up in the summer too...Christmas in July.

Answers:

Yes, its that time of year again kiddies...Decorate to your hearts content! Some of the people where I live fill their whole yard full..Way too much stuff in a small yard...I like it tastefull...

Brad please be extra careful out there in the world. I know that there are lots of crazies shooting at each other and I just want you to remember to stay out of their line of fire! We all want you to be around to enjoy those new lights next summer!

Don't worry...they are not shooting at me, they are shooting at each other. I just have to clean up after them at 0200hrs. lately and I like my sleep.
As for being a redneck deb, Ohio has red necks and Michigan has blue necks. You know, they can call me anything they want, I'm puttin up those rope lights and leaving them there.
I got blow up snowman too, he'll be out this weekend. My daughter gets a kick out of that stuff. I was in the store this weekend and they got some huge..and I mean huge inflatables this year. You can just about have your own Maceys parade in your yard.
Rich...rope light. No tangles and no bulbs to replace. I never had good luck with the regular type christmas lights.

As I peered out my deck window this morning, all was dry. As I am looking right now we have light accumulation, the deck is now completely white, we are expecting 3-6" by tonight.
My daughter expects lights every year so it is my job to hang em. My experience has been to do it before the snow flys for some safety and comfort issues.
Now rope light Mitch, it's the stuff in the plastic tubes, I will be able to leave up year round. I have 1/2 of my deck done, haven't had a day off to do the whole thing. I need to finish tommorow morning, hopefully this new snow will melt.
You guys do lights in the NY/NJ area?

Answers:

Brad, I still have Christmas lights in my pine trees that were there when we moved here...I bet they were put there 40 years ago!

I LOVE Christmas lights! Just hate to put them out. Even tho I test them all before I put them up, there's always a strand that doesn't light and I'm outside trying to figure out why.
End of October (our Indian summer) is when we put them out( we DON'T turn them on, just put them out). Everyone going by the house looking at us like we're nuts. But tonight we're expecting heavy rain and snow flurries, and this weekend we'll be inside, warm and dry, while everyone else is freezing their butts off putting up lights! :p Ours will be turned on this weekend, and once we turn them on they're on timers so we don't have to do a darn thing until it's time to take them down on Valentine's Day (just kidding :D !).

Answers:

Brad - There's nothing wrong with having the rope lights out all year round. They are sold in the store's all year round. People also put them coiled up under their kitchen cabinets to light up their counters. You can get some that run on batteries.

We will probably start on the outside Friday. Then the inside as we can. We don't decorate as much as we used to. This year with my feet so bad, I guess I'll just "supervise"!!!!!!! :) We do not go shopping on Friday. Too many others out there.

Here is a photo of my deck as we speak. I left my house at 5 am this morning...no snow....lunch at noon...no snow....Get out of work at 4 pm....lots of snow and more coming down now. Yuck!!!

wow, it looks like my deck in the winter... except my deck is usually covered at least 5 times that!

Answers:

Wow you guys, that snow sure looks familiar to me. I wonder where I've seen it ---- oh yeah, out on my deck too :D
As far as putting out lights, bah humbug. I hate all the fuss people make. In a week or so, I'll put up our tree and have the kids decorate it. This time of year really brings out the grinch in me. I almost got into a couple car accidents on the way home because the stupid people in Michigan forgot how to drive in the snow!!!

Answers:

I'm glad we don't have it. We had pouring rain all day but tonight I can see the sky!!!!!!! HooRay-sun tomorrow! :D I know I'll feel better than I did today.
