you really have to be careful. some of them are the actual viruses. our computers crashed here a few months ago but luckily the tech guys at my office gave me a disc with ad-ware, spy sweeper and spybot. We had to run all three programs to get the internet connection back on my kid's computer.
cyberspace is scary out there. be careful and don't download stuff!!
i just asked my son if he knew how to download AOL's AIM for my lap top and he said not to do it because i'd get a virus. it's for my work computer so I may just bring it into work and have them do it legitimately.

WOW! Really need more information though. The Lava Soft, free for personal use downloads(Ad-Aware) from their site, are some of the most reliable, frequently updated and effective anti spyware, adware and mining operations going. It sounds like you were infected with a Trojan Horse or Trojan BookMarker BEFORE you downloaded - you were taken to a "false look alike site" where you got one of those self replicating viruses that crash and burn your PC. Nasty stuff! Had you used any search engines right before it happened - it can happen like this too - you're running the cursor around anticipating click and go to a link, simply touching the arrow to the wrong spot - PC sick. Insidious. Phone scams mostly, although a good % are A*SHO*ES who need to get a life. When you get it straightened out, install Symantec Professional or better, run on Auto-Protect, update frequently(every 24hrs), install Ad-Aware SE 1.05 FROM THE LAVASOFT SITE, run entering and exiting the ether, update frequently(every 24hrs). Never download anything from a site that lists a million FREE protections or fun things to do whiling away your time on your PC.

I downloaded Ad-Aware a couple of years ago. I update it regularly. I haven't had any problems.
Are you experiencing some distress over this whole "HOMELESS" thing? Try repeating this 10k times - there are other places that will feel like home, there are other places that will feel like home, there are other ..................

hi annie, i hope your computer made it. i have adware. it works good. when i want to down load some thing free. i ask my boss if he thinks it's any good or not. because he knows all about that stuff. he is very smart.

Real good advise Annie. Only good thing about getting a virus in my old computer it forced me to buy a new one which was more modern. But you are right never download anything you are not fimiluar with!
