My computer has been doing a strange thing intermittantly. I have been occassionally checking for spyware. today I found one named - Spybuddy ....Keylogger. I blocked it. Can anyone explain more about who sent this and what it can do to rotect myself from this intrustion. thank you.............Trace


download Ad-Aware and run it everyday. It'll keep spyware off your computer:

With the free version, you just have to manually check for updates and run it each day yourself (I do it a couple times a week though). I think if you actually buy it then it does most of the stuff automatically.

I use Ad Aware in conjuction with SpyBot Search and Destroy. It's another free program that you have to run manually, but you'd be amazed at what's on your computer the first time you run these programs! Here's a link:

Thank you everyone for your help. I found the spybuddy when I was running a search for spyware. Since I did not pay for it It should not have been there. Don't know how it got there. It is supposed to be blocked now. Again thank you all for your suggestions I certainly will use them. .....Trace


Absolutly agree with Jill's post but would add SpywareBlaster which is free software that blocks, not just removes, spyware. You must update it and then select "Enable All Protection" after updating.

Speaking of firewall ,
i simply can't do anything in the pc once the firewall is on ...
many applications can't be used , cause is denied access by firewall . it's so annoying , feel like popups windows every minute
it would be easy to allow them , if i knew all the weird computer codes and names they give to identify them. but i don't .
So , i keep my firewall off.
How can we work on this ?

Wish I could help on this one. I'm an Apple addict and we don't have issues like these. :D
I'm sure someone else on the board will have some ideas though.
