I've got robbed for the first time!
Question:

Hi Everyone
We never think it would happen to us!
I've got robbed yesterday coming home from work.
A car stopped , and 3 men jump on me . One had a gun in my neck ,
one had a knife in my stomach , and the other checking my pockets.
They took my backpack that was crossed in my torso.
I said there was money inside , take the whole thing .
I had hands up all the time , didn't say a word . Just closed my eyes
and stayed quiet .
Luckily they left , I didn't even look back. Just kept walking forward praying...
Right in front my house !
They took my wallet with state id's , bank card, social security (i know
i shouldn't carry it - i used it week before) , bank deposit slips and
40 dollars.
I know it's better to be safe because everything else can be replaced.
Just worried if one day they will ever use my information or try something else. I called fraud alert , cancelled cards, got police report , etc .
Advice ... Never carry what you will not need for the day. Not good idea
to have all cards, documents , your address placed in just one wallet .
And of course , never argue , don't panick, just give away everything .
I'm still speechless and empty . Most of all , feeling insecure to come home again.
Take Care
Vinny

wow, I'd like to say that I'm glad you're okay... everything else is replaceable...
also, GitOverIt, posted a thread about identity theft that I was really impressed with awhile back.... you may want to look it over...
here's a link... there's a bunch of numbers you should call to nip identity theft stuff before it can occur.

Good luck and again.... glad you're okay!

Vini,
I'm so sorry that you had that awful experience!! I can't imagine how scared you must have been...how terrible.
Relieved that you were not physically hurt. You did the right thing Vini by not resisting. Those " things " can be replaced, however there is only one YOU and thankfully your ok, although understandably shaken up.
Please take care, saying a prayer and thankful that your still with us.

You can always replace the stuff we just can't replace you! This can be very traumatic to have a gun in your neck, I hope you are OK, even though you are OK. Take a deep breath and I hope that you reported it to the police. We don't catch every badguy but I will tell you with todays technology and the state of our "national security" the police do have at least a good chance at it by gettting a good report. I'm assuming you have called the police, if not be sure to let them know all the details. People with the ability to do this often will do it again and again until they are caught.
Glad to see you are OK, that is the important thing.

Vinny,
I'm so sorry this happenned to you! :( It's such a feeling of being violated, and it takes a while to get over. We were once burglarized (took my purse from not 10 ft away from where we were sleeping!) and it took me a long time not to be jumpy. I'm so glad you are safe, and did the smart thing by just giving these creeps what they were after. It's horrible to think of them getting away with it, but worse to think how things might have turned out. Take care of yourself, and be safe.

Vinny,
I am so sorry for what happened to you. How frightened you must have been. My mother was robbed after coming home from the bank one day. She never drove and lived in Queens at the time. She was walking home from the bank and these thugs followed her with their car; they jumped out as soon as she hit the house. They tore her pocketbook right off her arm. She had just withdrawn $1000.00 from the bank. This was right before the holidays. I will never forget how sick she looked. For months she would not eat and come out of the house. It took her a long time to get over it.
I hope you called the police and gave them whatever description you could.
They must be caught.
I am saying a special prayer for you.

grrrrr and grrrrr.. to bad they didnt get two steps away and you didnt pull out a 357 and blew them away so the next person dont have to deal with TRASH like that. i got robbed once it turned into a auto chase that ended up with the robber crashing into the chief of polices car 20 miles away from my home.then it was a foot chase in the swamps. and the guy was awol from the milatary and wanted for murder. he had robbed a home near me also and the whole time we were chasing him he was throwing jewerly out his car window. grrr he went to jail and they made him pay me $2,000.for damages.
sorry you had to deal with that it makes you feel so helpless. you did the right thing for sure. the sad part about it is they probably have been caught befor and back doing the same thing . all the jails are to full of non violent people to fit real criminals in them duhhhh.i know this wont be popular here but if more honest people had guns there would be less of that mess. people here carry guns.

What a horrible experience. Sadly, it can happen to anyone, anywhere. Even being awarre of your surroundings wouldn't have helped in this case. Just so glad you were cool and weren't hurt.
This morning, as I sat in my office just 10 feet away, someone slipped into my co-worker's office and snatched his briefcase from under his desk. He had gone to the restroom, was only gone 2 minutes. And I'm sitting right there in plain view but must have had my back turned. Talk about nerve!! Unfortunately he puts everything in his bag - cell phone, check book, car keys, house keys, etc. He's so mad he called his own cell phone, and the guy answered!! Can you believe that?! Of course it didn't do any good...

Hi Vinny
Just to say that I am glad you were able to stay calm and didn't get hurt.
You never know how you are going to react in these circumstances.
I know it will make you feel unsafe for a while but don't let those gutless thugs bring you down.
I grew up in London and had a few near misses and it does shake you up but your confidence will come back.
Take care now
Love Kay
