Just a quick rant
Question:

OK, in April I had surgery to remove several lymph nodes that were huge and causing me severe pain. They thought it may be lymphona (greater chance of getting this cancer if you have psoriasis), cat scratch fever (people with "P" should not have a cat under a year old), or that psoriasis invaded my lymph system. I was still having problems because evidently the surgeon didn't take all of the infected nodes out. (Mistake number 20 in this saga.) When I went to Israel, things seemed to have gotten better and I didn't go in for the rest of my tests. However, I realized that I still have a problem (although it is not as severe as it was) with some nodes hurting (at the very top of my leg). Therefore, I went in for a Cat Scan last week, had to drink two HUGE things of Barium suspension, got an IV full of Iodine, missed work, etc. Today I find out that they scanned the wrong body part - even though I confirmed a zillion times that they were getting the right area. What are the friggen odds of this? Anyway, you know what they scanned instead? My ovaries! What the heck? The kicker in all of this is that they found an Ovarian Cyst. Does anyone else have this kind of bad luck???
I'm just venting - no need to respond - I feel better already.

:eek:Oh Gumby, so sorry to hear this!!! I too have had several lymph node problems throughout my life, including cat scratch fever (exactly where your scan SHOULD have been, in the groin node). When I had it I was only ten years old, and they had no idea what it was. It was very humiliating for me b/c every doctor and intern were constantly "looking at me" for the entire month that I was hospitalized. They finally removed the node. I thought it might make you feel better that you are not alone!!

Hi R,
I am so sorry to hear about this, it is the first I knew ( you should have told me!! ). Don't you just hate the incompetent technicians in some places these days? So now, you'll need to do it all over again, right? Don't put it off, though, sweetie, just get it over with.
I have been lucky to avoid any node problems, but did have a go around with endometriosis in my thirties. That is very tricky since I am still only 29.....lol
Let us know how it goes.

Believe it or not, I had a similar experience...although not as bad as yours. When I first started with all my itching, my doctor finally decided to do a scan of my lymph glands to rule out any kind of lymphoma etc. Fortunately, those were all negative, and the proper body parts were scanned, but they also found ovarian cysts on me. Wonder if that is common?...hmmmm...all turned out well, and I hope it does the same for you. Best of luck.

Incompetency is always a pain, but in your case it might not be a bad thing that they found the ovarian cyst. Although it is just one more thing to add to your stress and concern, it does need to get taken care of.
The lymph problem existed so they know they have to go back for that, but the ovarian issue may not have been discovered otherwise (not that this is an excuse for the incompetency).
The old adage, "when it rains, it pours" is probably the most apropos and relevent quote we use today. I always find that one problem means that others are coming, which for me subsequently means that my P is going to flare.
I'll certaily have you in my thought and prayer that everything should turn out for the best!

Hey Rhonda.
Sorry for the bad luck caused by the incompentant techs. I work at hospital and ufortunatly it happens to often. As PJ said you need to get the test redone and make sure they don't bill you again. Hope all works out for the best.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - down with meatheads!
Please do follow through with the second scan and the cyst (which is quite common, albeit unnerving - better to have found it now).
Keep on keepin' on - I'll be thinking about you.
Keep us posted.
Best,
Krista

Rhonda,
I feel for you, my sister had almost the same exact experienced you had, down to the lymph node. It created a big scare on everyone in the family.
I spend many repeated visits to the hospital nursing my mom last year, I can attest to many common mistakes made at the hospital. That's why asking many of questions and making repeated requests for confirmation are crucial to receiving proper care.
Sorry I didn't reach out to you at the opening reception.
take care,
eric
