Question:
Hi my name is Jeannie. I am turning 24 next month. I have had P since I was 8 or so. I have been married to Chad since Feb 1999. I have a beautiful son, Payne (4 y.o.) and a pit bull puppy, Trinity (13 wks old) and 2 funny cats, Simba (tabby) and Mr. Jinx (bobtail)
My current home is in South Florida...was Ohio. My P got worse when I was pregnant. I have been on every OTC and RX cream, ointment, lotion, shampoo up to and including steroid shots, creams, and prednisone at the same time (made me SO sick!) I am going to the derm. today to see about Enbrel...the insurance covers it and I am covered in P so why not? I'm terrified of needles, but if it works I am all over it!
I have P all over my face, ears, scalp, legs, arms, torso (including sensitive areas) I hope this Enbrel helps...I'm covered...I'm tired of people asking and having to tell them its not a rash, not contagious, its genetic (in my case anyways) I hate the way people look at me b/c it is on my face. I have it on my eyelids, eyebrows, cks, nose, sides, forehead..I can't wear glasses b/c they rub behind my ears...contacts b/c of the flakes in my eyes...I can't see! I hate the trail I leave in my house.

Welcome to our P family! You'll find lots of great info and advice here, and much support as well. We're all going through what you are, or at least we've been there at one point.
I hope Enbrel works for you. It did not for me, but my P is not plaque (except for my scalp). However, let me be the first to assure you that the shots do NOT hurt at all. The needle is very short, maybe 1/2", and very fine. Slid right through my skin like a hot knife in butter! I did find that my belly was easiest for me.

Sorry Jeannie about the face P...that is terrible...but you will get help!
At least you have a nice family! Do you go out in the sun down there in southern Florida? The sun has helped lots of us on these boards......... but start slowly!!!!!

There are various treatments mentioned also on the "Alternate Treatments " thread over in "PSORIASIS" forum.
There is also a thread there started by "KIWI" on bee hive extracts, that looks interesting at least til you get some relief from your derm...I'm getting some...its from New Zealand but doesn't cost much to ship,....via Sandy (KIWI)

I suppose you know to moisturize.....often with as natural (no scents or fragrances) as possible....
hope this helps a little.....the sun has been like a balm for the P I have....it is going, going almost gone....just have a few that are the biggest left and they are rapidly changing to white patches.....
I use the water, oil, (coconut, olive, peanut,) and sun. and of course moisturize as often as I can during the day.
please visit us often ...there are others who will post also...we like to help whenever we can......and give encouragement!

I hope the Enbrel works for you. It has been a miracle for me. The shots really do not hurt. It took me a little time in the beginning because lets face it, sticking yourself with a sharp object is not a natural thing. But it really does not hurt. The other thing is, if you are like me, once you start to see results from Enbrel, you won't be able to wait until it is time for the next shot!

I went to the derm today as promised...and he put me on embrel...sent form to UHC to be approved and then if I don't hear from them by Wed (7/28/04) I call them...otherwise we set up appt and get started!!!! SO EXCITED!!!!

Well...it's Mon 8/9 kids are in school and I got my first embrel shot today...didn't hurt a bit! I'm such a wuss!!!!
