hey rich! good luck today! Some of the questions i asked where mainly about treatments. Side affects of the medication. Prolong useage of medication. I also asked abotu advances in my PA.. if it will get worse as the years go on and etc. What i did was write down everything i wanted to know (okies okies, so im a tad bit anal!) and brought the lsit to him, so i wouldnt forget anything.
I wish i wouldve gone to a rhuem earlier when i gotten PA>.. then i wouldnt have the extent of joint damages i have now, they can only be fixed with surgeries. BUt im excited about the surgeries as well... after my ankles are done.. i can wear HEELS AGAIN!! yeaaa!! i miss being a girl ;)
ookies, i rambled again, but GOOD LUCK!

Hi Richard,
I wanted to wish you luck at your first appointment. I had no idea I had PA when I first went. I had never heard of it...so being clueless, I asked no questions, other than " what is it & what do I do to get rid of it "....
The important thing is to get a complete history & exam from the rheumy, including bloodwork and x-rays, INSIST on this. There is an awsome thread from Jesselou explaining the tests etc on the PA board.

When he confirms what you think is PA, you could ask him about which drugs would work best for you, what exercises you could do without making it worse, any dietary concerns, ie; you cannot drink on MTX so I guess that would be a lifestyle issue. Believe it or not my rheumy looked at my shoes when I went....I have issues with my feet. So I guess you could ask him about shoes....
I haven't finished my coffee yet, if I can think of any more questions you could ask him, I will PM them to you..
Have a good day Richard,
Karen :)

Hi Rich,
Good Luck with your appointment.
The Rheumy should be able to help with the pain questions for sure! I say write down all your questions on a piece of paper and bring that in.... people do that, they'll understand.
Best of Luck
Keep us posted

Hey Rich,
I know you have waited a longtime for this and we have discussed some things on the phone but here is a follow up
Be ready to go over your entire medical history, Give it a good think and right it down. Also, try to keep a log of what is currently ailing you, keeping track of severity and duration of probelms
The doc should examine all of your joints, order blood work (checking your SEDS rate-a measure of inflammation as well as the existance of certain antibodies ) as well as ordering X-Rays of your joints. The visit with the Rheumy shoudl take a minimum of an hour My first Rheumy visit was more like two hours. (Rheumys will frequently fall behind on there appointments as a result but it is worth the wait.)
It is a good idea to bring some means to right things down Take notes of what the doc says espeically if they are answer to questions you ask Record what he says the treatment will be as well If Robin can go with you and do that even better
Well dude, I know you have been waiting a while for this You will be there soon

Rich, if you have a printer, you can go down to the bottom of this page and it will say Printer Version...or something like that...Print it all out and bring to Drs with you...or at least make notes from it...hope that helps and good luck...we are all pulling for you...
