Question:
I have solved a mystery. Evidently there is a correlation in having the nickname of some form of "gumby" and psoriasis!!!
I saw a thread that "gumbysmom" responded to and I immediatly thought that my mother was now posting on the boards. It freaked me out that she would enter into "my" space. Needless to say, the world does NOT revolve around me and it is not my mother. Actually, I looked and there are 7 people with "gumby" in their screen name.
To all of you cool and groovy "...gumby..." people out there...WELCOME! You all rock!
Gumby is a popular character! - can't imagine the psoriasis correlation tho...unless it's that we are extra bendy in order to reach all our p. spots with our topicals!
:D
Hi gumby, I also thought it was your mother!!! I was thinking, man I wonder if my mom would ever do that................"coachs' mom"...or "it's your mother"..lol
Gumby is cool though...used to love the show when I was younger (much younger :) ).
If there's a Gumby.... Pokey can't be too far behind.
Where are ya, Pokey?
Jumpin' Joe-hasophat
Does anyone remember the other "Claymation" children's show, called Davey and Goliath ?
I do!!!!

Oh yeah, I remember Davie and goliath..........................how bout Gentle Ben???
Yes, I remember Gentle Ben. I also remember Grizzly Adams.
My earliest TV memory is lying on the coach with my dad when I was about 4 or 5 years old and we were watching something by Disney. Mid 1950s. We were living in West Haven, Connecticut then. Upsatirs from my grandparent's, in a house my grandfather (Mother's side) built himself entirely, while raising 7 children, and working a hard labor job (he was a Sicilian immigrant - so was his wife, Sidra) at the same time. He did all the grunt work/brute strength work for a construction company, Sperry and Treat. My granfather's real name was Sebastiano Alfano, but they called him Jumbo. Strong as an ox and worked as hard as one. The last building he worked on was the New Haven Courthouse (with two big marble lions at the entrance) in the center of New Haven, Connecticut. Right across the street from the New Haven Green. He was the most proud of that. He was a bit of a show off. My mother told me that in his younger years, he'd open up two beer bottles at the same time.......with his TEETH. Of course you know he never went to the dentist. My father, when he was dating my mother, said that he watched as my granfather hoisted 3 bags of cement up onto one shoulder with very little trouble. My granfather was probably in his late fifties when he did that too. At first you'd think that he was showing off. Personally, I think my grandfather was demonstarting to my father that he better treat his daughter right or there'd be Hell To Pay.
When I think about the hard lives of some of them old-timers, I ask myself, "What the heck do I have to complain about?"
Yow, did I ever get off the track with this post.
Back to TV shows.......How about a show called "F-Troop" ?
I remember watching that on our B&W Philco TV with the "rabbit ears" sitting on top of the TV. For those out there who may be too young to know what "rabbit ears" are, that was what they called the set-top antenna that many people used when they didn't have an outside roof-top antenna. There was no cable or satelite TV transmission in those days, so you either had an antenna up on your roof, or you used rabbit ears.
