Question:
Well, today is the 25th anniversary from the first date w/ my husband. I met him while flukin' on the Sea Fox out of Atlantic Highlands 25 years ago.
We still fish today and have a boat in the Manasquan River. Steve, you mentioned you're fishing this weekend. Where will you be?

what's a flukin'?
congratulations on 25 btw!!
:D  :D
ha ha . . . anyone from jersey knows what flukin' is . . . .it's jersey flounder. steve will tell ya. they're almost impossible to catch because the size limit keeps raising each year. i think they've got to be at least 16 1/2" in length in order to keep them. is that right, steve?
hubby's been out once or twice catching sea bass so far this year.
yummy!!!!
I'm either going out from Belmar on the Big Mohawk or taking the Atlantic Star out of the Atlantic Highlands. I'm not sure which yet. More importantly, they are now calling for rain Friday into Saturday.
I think the fluke min. is 16 and 1/2 inches. There is plenty to catch, but you have to throw most back because they don't make the size limit.
Fluke is a great eating fish. Very light and flakey. Not fishy at all.

Thanks for the welcome-not my fish though, like I said I cant catch a fluke to save my life ;)
Well I went fluking this morning. A lot of fluke but not to many keepers. They were mostly too small. I wen't on the Nighthawk out of Belmar. Nice boat and a very friendly crew.
that's too bad about the size of the fish. we haven't been able to get out this weekend because we have too many commitments with the 3 kids. deep fried some sea bass and fluke friday night. it was yummy!!!
guess we'll just go hang out by the pool today. GORGEOUS WEATHER TODAY!!! YIPPEE!!!
Karen- I'm so jealous! I spent many a summer down the shore - he have a place in Normandy Beach. I haven't been up there in so long... I miss endless body surfing, "the boards" on a rainy day, and our outdoor shower (the best thing in the world). The 4th of July is always such a great weekend up there. Have fun! Thanks for reminding me...
OMG -- that has to be the best memory i have of a kid at the shore. we used to rent a house [bungalow] in seaside park [two houses from the bay. we'd go w/ all my girl cousins [there'd be 6 of us]. the shower was at the back of the property and we had to double up. water was heated by the sun.
we'd crab and surf fish at night and catch blow fish.
i know where normandy beach is. now we visit our friends who have a place in harvey cedars in LBI. i prefer the outdoor shower while there. there's something so beachy about it.
got a cocktail in hand and going back outside w/ hubby. it's a gorgeous evening. have fun. karen
