Question:
Hello to everyone here. First I have to apologise if my written English isn’t too great. My main language isn’t English, but I hope I have the words to write this note.
Unlike most of you here I do not suffer from arthritis or any other form of disease, and I thank God for that. However, over the past five years, I have had to watch my best friend deteriorate rapidly from Psoriatic Arthritis. Two nights ago I once again sat with her all night as she cried with pain and I could do absolutely nothing to ease the tremendous pain she was in. She is allergic to many kinds of medication and it seems the doctors have kinda given up hope. The painkillers aren’t working… I’m crying as I write this, as this friend is the one true friend that I have. Watching her go through one setback after another is hell. I do my best to help, listen and be a shoulder, but I still feel as if it’s not enough. I can’t will the pain to go away.
Why am I writing this here? Perhaps because I just wanted to tell everyone how much I respect you for your will to keep living with a disease that not only debilitates you but make you go through life with chronic pain every day. Dealing with everyday things like getting out of bed and making it over the two stair steps to the store is hard for someone who has this blasted disease. Things that some time ago I took for granted. Now I don’t anymore. Sitting behind the wheel of my car for the fifth time in a week to drive my friend to the hospital makes me want to stop and slap everyone who complains about minor things and make them take the disease away from my dear friend, just for a day to give them a taste of it, and give my friend one day without pain.
I wish you all strength to deal with the pain of your disease. That’s all I wanted to say. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
I am so , so sorry for you friend....My heart goes out to her! She is extremely lucky to have your support!!!
I am one of the lucky ones who does not have psoriatic arthritis!
I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I will pray for her.
Izza, all I can say is that you are a terrific friend. God bless you and YOUR friend.
Izza;
How incredibly lucky your friend is to have you in her life.
