Hi all,
We are busy getting ready for our road trip....we leave tomorrow morning early (Sunday June 6) for Ohio. We'll be there all week... and on our last night attend the Cleveland gathering set up by MariaPaula! :D

i need to vent...
I'll start off with earlier in the week I got in a minor accident...a chain reaction at a green light and i ended up ramming into someone. Horribly terrifying, embarassing and all that. The guy was OK, little damage on both vehicles, but enough that the bumper of my Jeep Cheeroke was very loose... so we took it to our "car guy" to look at and he fixed it. We had just been to see him last week for a "trip check".
Anyway, so the next traumatic thing for me is that we aren't taking Jeff on our trip. Completely my decision and in the end it's best for Jeff because my parents in Ohio don't have a fenced in backyard. And, Jeff willl be staying with 2 great people and their 2 border collies... kinda like his summer camp. But, still for me, a little sad because he's my buddy.
Well, today we drove him to his "summer camp" which is about an hour away....got him settled in, he'll be fine all was good. So we are heading back home...and not 15 minutes into our trip the engine light comes on and we coast to an exit and manage to get off on the exit and come to a stop off the road a bit. DH lifted the hood of the Jeep and it was smokin...a little scarey..no fire as it turns out. We get our things, lock it...and walk to a gas station we see up the road. A nice lady there gives us a number of another station which has tow service and mechanics on duty.
We call this place and they come pick us up, and we go to the Jeep, they load it up...and take us all back to the station. They put it in the garage immediately...and a few minutes later tell us it's a blown gasket?? -- and would be a 3 day repair ...and suggested that we just get towed with the Jeep back to our own town and we can have our own 'car guy' look at it. So we did. It was an hour drive, the kid was nice enough we all made small chat the whole way which made for a quicker trip.
The Jeep gets to our local place and we get home.
Now, we have my husbands vehicle here but he's been hearing a strange noise in his this week we don't know if we can trust it on the road for 10+ hours one way.
So DH calls the 'car guy' at his home when we get home....and leaves a message that if he could please look at my husbands vehicle tomorrow and lets us know if it's "road worthy' we'd greatly appreciate it. He usually doesn't work on sundays, but we are hoping, maybe he might be available. We haven't heard from him yet.
I'm so upset...I want to go home and I want my dog and I don't have either right now...I'm crying writing this....
So...not knowing how it will play out I continue to prepare for our trip and put in another load of clothes.....stop to watch Smarty Jones.....then put the clothes in the dryer....I decide that my best next move was to start a baking soda bath..something I wanted to do hours ago when I thought we'd be home and not walking on a highway somewhere.....
So i'm running the bath...pouring in the baking soda....going about my business when I smell something....something burning....I run around the house seeing nothing...then go toward the dryer and the smell get sronger..i'm freaking out but don't see smoke or anything...i open the dryer door to get it to stop....then look behind the dryer and the coil or whatever is back there that lights up (is something supposed to light up?) is red freakin hot and i start to see a little smoke....i pulled everything away from the dryer and continued to freak out....but in the end it's fine...but obviously something is wrong with the dryer... after the day I had I just can't have the house burning down too...I feel like shouldn't move for fear something else is going to happen....
the good news is....i did successfully run my bath with baking soda and loved it.....it's been awhile since i've taken a bath anyway and it felt so calming and soothing...and the baking soda was wonderful!!!! my p has been bad lately BUT not realy scaly and flaky just "red"...well, that's what I thought until this bath...my p. was shedding lots of skin i didn't think was on there...so weird..so cool how it "gooed" off.....when i got out I laid on the Aquafor pretty thick...and put on cotton pants and long sleeve baggy Tshirt...
So... i do feel better in a lot of ways... deep inside I'm scared worried and dissappointed....I'm so tempted to just go buy a new car tomorrow...but we really can't afford that either...Hopefully our car guy will come thru and we'll be on the road on Sunday as planned just a little later. I get the whole week off so we have time to leave a little later in the week....but I'd hate to wait too much later...we've got Cleveland Indians tickets for Wednesday and the SPECIAL p. party on Friday. And ofcourse, I'm hyped to "go home" I miss my Mom and family...want to go to my sisters grave, and all that goes along with "going home".
I'll close this now. thank you if you've read this...i needed an ear...you all are so wondefully sweet and supportive... I'm trying not to be negative....please pray and think good thoughts this way that it works out.

we are BACK on schedule!!! We went to the airport and rented a SUV! LOL..... so we will be leaving tomorrow. weeee!

Denise: A lot of things for one week end, but I am glad that you finally are in your way. I hope that you can enjoy your trip with your family and friends so much. I will be there on Friday to meet you. I am sure that we are gonna have a wonderful time. My husband is coming too. He is gonna leave earlier from work. So, see you there.

We are off shortly for the afternoon to meet a friend of my husbands then we will leave for Cleveland Tower City to the Caribou Coffee place!
