Sad day here
Question:

our 12 yr old cocker spaniel, Lady, was diagnosed with congestive heart failure a few months ago. She had improved on the meds, but then in the past couple weeks she got worse. They put her on the max. dosage of Lasix over a week ago and she still worsened. I was worried every day that I'd get home and find that she passed on alone...this morning we went to the vet and xrays confirmed her lungs were filled with liquid despite the high dose of medication. We made the decision to euthanize her. Our vet, whom we love, felt it was a humane decision at this point...but a really really tough one.
She was my MIL's dog until 2 yrs ago when she moved and couldn't take her...we took her in at that point. Our baby, Winnie the bulldog, was not happy about it and it took a lot of time and energy to have a somewhat peaceful household, but Lady was a very sweet dog, didn't bother anyone...she was happy to nap, watch the cats and get a pat on the head.
Rough day, we just keep crying.

MICHELLE, I am so so very sorry to hear that about your dog Lady.
I know just what you are going through. It's very hard to lose a pet as they become one of the family. I KNOW as I too have lost my darling dog about 4 yrs. ago & I still miss her very much. I pray that God give you the strength to overcome this... :(

So sorry Michelle. I have had to put a beloved pet to sleep too. It is a very, very hard decision but you made the most humane one. He is at peace and not suffering. It was the greatest gift of love a pet owner can give to his or her pet. Now if we only treate human the same way!
Sleep well knowing you did the right thing he is no longer in pain.
Mitch

Michelle, I'm sorry about your dog, we lost our Bearded Collie to congestive heart failure 2 years ago. It was a really hard decision to make to have he put down but, she was suffering and we did it out of love for her. I know she crossed the Rainbow Bridge and is painfree waiting in heaven for us. Try to remember all the good times you had with her and know that she is now an angel!

Michelle...
...I'm so, so sorry about your loss...
You made a very brave decision to end the suffering of your pet. I've been in that situation before. They are members of our family! They ARE our family!
I'm sometimes reminded that the angels are up there in Heaven somewhere playing with our pets and they are healthy, happy and waiting one day to be reunited with us. That thought sometimes makes me feel better. Knowing that they, too... are in a better place.
Be strong.
Blessings,
Joe

I'm sorry, I know how you feel. My beautiful Maine Coon cat was diagnosed with a kidney tumor and I brought him back home with me until he tried to get up one morning and looked me in the eye and told me in so many words it was time to go. It was the day before Christmas Eve. My son & I drove him to the vet, my son refusing to put him in a carrier and instead holding him in his arms. I reached over to pet him and his fur was wet. I looked up and without making any sound, huge crocidile tears were falling from my son's eyes onto our kitty.
We had him cremated and picked up his ashes a week later. They came in a little tin with his name engraced on it.
Now here is the funny part.
I had this nosey neighbor who would barge in at all hours. One day she was in my living room being her obnoxious nosey self when she picked up the tin and asked me what it was. As straight faced as I could be, I told her it was my dead cat. She turned as pale as a ghost and never picked up another thing in my house again. The cat, I'm sure, was smiling down on us, glad that we got the nosey creep.

Michelle,
So sorry for your loss. I still miss my beloved cat that I had to make the same decision on over a year ago. She gave us 18 wonderful years, and I miss her horribly, but am so glad she is no longer in pain. You gave her the gift of dignity.
