Sure wish you could join us at the conference in San Diego, Richard. Have you checked out Amtrak? They sometimes have some great deals with kids traveling free if you have the time. Hope you find somewhere fun to relax.

Hi Richard,
I'm thinking that a fun inexpensive place to go might be Myrtle Beach South Carolina...here is an attachment;

Not too too far of a drive for you and lots of fun things for your son to do, good shopping too for Robin!! Lot's of outlet stores. I think they have two amusement parks and plenty of mini-golf etc.
Now I feel like going on vacation!

I'm sure you have done all of the PA stuff already... but, if you haven't.... Go to Amish country, Hershey Cholate Factory, the Amusement park there, see Philly and all it has to offer. There are a million things in PA alone that you can do... There are plenty of things to keep your son and you busy!!! I had a blast doing them...

Answers:

gumby girl - I agree. Those places that you mentiioned in PA (Amish country, Hershey Chocolate Factory and Amusement Park) are great places to spend a vacation.
Back in the early 80s, my wife, Joan and I stayed a few days at a campground that was in that immediate area. That campground is most likely still there. While we were there, we took a tour of the chocolate factory on one day and spent a whole day at the amusement park on another. Just drove around doing and seeing other stuff on the third day. We had a good old time on that weekend vacation and we didn't spend all that much money. I'm from Connecticut so it wasn't an exceedingly long drive either.
PA is a nice state with lots to do. Just watch out for those wild and crazy Amish folk though. Whenever I'd have to stop at a traffic light, there would always be one of them pulling up along side me in his/her black buggy and challenging me to a race to the next light. But what really annoyed me about these incidents is that they'd always WIN !!!
My brother Paul lives in Jessup, PA.

Florida is probably further than you want to drive for summer vacations, but Daytona is nice. Has nice beaches, NASCAR (Daytona 500), Motorcycles (Bike Week)...and is a nice place to relax.

My nephew runs it ......Don Salyers....and I think it might be reasonable ...not sure cause it all depends on time of year. But the Gulf is across the street and the resort my nephew used to run is across the street the other direction and all the guests can use their pool...friendly group eh?....there is also a very clean and well kept arcade near by for your son.....its in Fort Meyers Beach FL.....if you do go let me know how it is........:D lots of sand and sea water for your P...

I do agree with them. Florida is so nice, and it has a lot of nice beachs. I was in Miami last January for a few days and we enjoyed too much. We stayed in Comfort On the Beach Hotel and it was not expensive. You can check in Internet. There you are gonna find a lot of information.

Great idea Amy!!! When Bill and I went to Niagra (Canada side) this past Februrary, we decided we would love to see it in the summer. It is so beautiful there and plenty to do. Ours was such an awesome vacation (except for the fact that we didn't get to connect with Amy :( ).
Wherever you decide to go Rich, it will be wonderful just because you are *away* and with the people that you love.

take it from a jersey girl here . . . no matter where you go it's going to be crowded and you may have difficulty finding reservations at this late time.
some places of interest are long beach island, ocean city, cape may, wildwood [which has a terrific boardwalk], and seaside park. you also can try brigantine [near atlantic city].
try this link: http://www.jerseyshore-online.com/
good luck and let us know what you decide.
however, i'd have to agree w/ the ny state idea. our family has gone up to lake chautauqua [south of buffalo near jamestown ny] and the finger lakes. it's beautiful up there and won't be as crowded as the jersey shore.
