If most of these psoriasis treatments were cars, would anyone buy them?
Question:

You go to the local car dealer one Saturday morning looking to purchase a new automobile. A car dealer walks over to you and says, “Let me show you this car that just came in.” You walk outside with the dealer and he begins his sale’s pitch:
“This is the new 2004 WidjaDinja. Pretty fancy looking, wouldn’t you say? It was designed and built by many bright, highly educated people who have spent many years researching ways to build this car and others much like it.
You ask, “May I sit in it and start it up.
The car dealer answers, “Sure. Here’s the key.”
You sit in it and turn the key, but it doesn’t start. The motor doesn’t even turn over. Puzzled, you look up at the dealer.
The car dealer says, “Oh yeah, these cars have a reputation for that sort of thing. Sometimes they run, but quite often they don’t. The designers at the factory are still working on fixing that. So far, it’s a mystery to them why that happens.”
While sitting in the 2004 WidjaDinja, you also notice that besides having no seatbelts or airbags, the entire car seems to be made as though it wouldn’t survive a crash very well. You think to yourself, “Obviously, a very dangerous car to drive.”
You then look across the parking lot and spot someone else who also just got behind the wheel of a 2004 WidjaDinja. You see them turn the key and notice that the car did manage to start up. You continue watching as this other person drives out of the car dealer's parking lot, turns, and proceeds driving down the street. Then you see that the car abruptly stops in the middle of the road. It apparently stalled out for some reason. You watch as the driver of the 2004 WidjaDinja gets out of the car, slams the door, and in a furry of disgust, angrily stomps away, abandoning the car in traffic.
The dealer, having noticed that you were watching the other driver says, “That is yet another reputation of the WidjaDinja. Sometimes they will run for a short time. Then all of a sudden, for some mysterious reason that the designers have not yet figured out, they stop running. And you may never be able to get them to start again when that happens.”
You ask the dealer to show you another WidjaDinja. He leads you around back and shows you last year’s model, which looks very different from the one you had previously looked at. He tells you that it has all of the reputations of the 2004 model. Sometimes it will start and run for a while, but sometimes it won’t even start up at all. If it manages to run for a while and then stops, don’t plan on getting it started again. It usually doesn’t happen.
You open the door to the 2003 WidjaDinja and take a seat behind the wheel. The dealer hands you the key. Turning the key you find that this one starts up immediately and sounds like it has a powerful motor. You’re delighted and ask to take it out for a spin. The dealer says yes, but when asked if he’d like to join you for the ride, the dealer nervously shakes his head, No. No way.
You drive out of the parking lot, turn, and continue driving down the road towards the highway. So far so good. You turn and proceed up the entrance ramp towards the highway. Once on the highway, you smell something burning inside of the car. Looking down, you notice that your seat is on fire. Your legs are getting scorched. You immediately pull to the side of the road, fling open the door and roll out, trying desperately to extinguish the flames that surround your legs.
An half hour later, after walking back to the car dealer’s parking lot, the dealer meets you at the entrance gate and asks you what happened. After explaining to him the event, he confirms what you had previously thought. He says, “Yes, that is yet another reputation of the WidjaDinja. For the most part, they’re not a very safe car to drive. You never know what is going to happen. Sometimes they burst into flames, other times the wheels may just fall off. Many different things could happen. I am sorry to inform you, but there is a great chance that you will incur severe bodily harm while driving a WidjaDinja. The designers are also working on solving that problem. This is another mystery of the WidjaDinja that has them stumped.”
Before leaving the car dealer to check into a hospital to get treatment for your burns, you ask the dealer if the car is expensive. No price sticker was placed on the window of the car, so you have no idea what the WidjaDinja costs.
The dealer answers, “The WidjaDinja is extremely expensive. Far too expensive for most people to pay for out of their own pockets. You will certainly need the assistance of a large financial institution to help you with the payments of the WidjaDinja.”
You finally ask, “If I buy one of your extremely expensive, unreliable, and very dangerous WidjaDinjas and it stops running for me after a while, can I get my money back?” The dealer shakes his head and answers, “No. Absolutely not. Once you buy one, that’s it. Sorry, but there are no returns or refunds when it comes to the WidjaDinja. If the car works for you – Great!!! Otherwise, it’s your loss, pal.”
As you return home that Saturday morning, you try to decide whether you should buy a WidjaDinja.
What do you think you will do? Will you buy the WidjaDinja or not?

Answers:

No, of course I wouldn't buy it. Thank God the treatments for psoriasis are so much better researched and trialed. Glad my ointments, light therapies and biologics have been so much more successful and safe.
I do hear however you must be very careful with all those so called natural "cures". Now there's a WidjaDinja for ya!

Answers:

That just cost me two minutes of my life that I will never get back!
Give it a rest dude!
PS - Let me know when the FDA approves CLO for the treatment of P. Then I might consider it.

Answers:

Luckily WidjaDinja aren’t the only cars out there.
Also there is NO treatment out there Alternative, Natural, or Medical. That I couldn’t apply that far stretch of an example.
You have now started several different threads on this subject and every time the objections and questions are answered and then turned around to you. You leave that thread and then start another one. In the thread about the CLO you tried to make a point that is completely safe. Others and I showed that CLO does have possibility of adverse side effects. Natural does not equal SAFE. any and all treatments can have side effects to some extent or another for someone. Then you start another thread about the effectiveness of treatments and why they do not work all the time and they were answered there. But as I remember you did not come back and answer your own questions you raised about the treatments you seem to be permoting so I will post those questions again and see if your will to give us an answer.
Sometimes the Natural supplement may seem to work.........for a while anyway. The body will sometimes do the best it can with the Natural supplement and attempt to figure out how to process some of it. But in the long run, most of them will all eventually fail in some manner or another. Even if you say that you've had success with a Natural supplement for many years, I will ask you the following. If the Natural supplement was so successful, why are you still on it? And what happens if you get off it? Are there any long-range effects of taking the stuff you're on? Is the Natural supplement creating other problems in your body that you're not aware of?
And to go back to your question some of us Can not live with out a car. some of us have children we have to haul to school and have to travel 100 of miles just to get to work. The person simply cannot function with out a car. Would I buy the one from your example? NO way, but there are other more reliable cars out there.
In the same way there are people that have had severe P and PA for many years. In a sense they have to travel 100 of miles just simply to function. So to go with your example they have to have a car just to live.
Then again I could be wrong and you could just be trying to say that we should not treat our P and PA at all until an absolute cure is available. That’s the feeling I am starting to get.
If you want to per mote something that worked for you that is fine but if you’re going to question one treatment type over another. Both treatments should have to stand up to same criticism of them.
So just to add personally Cost is a very weak argument for me. Effectiveness is far more important. Safety is also important and there are drugs out there that I personally would not take but I don’t blame the person that has suffered for years and tried every Med, Alt treat, and supplement out there with no success for taking them. But there IS nothing out there that is completely safe so saying any one treatment for P is 100% safe is untrue which has been pointed out by sited data in another thread.

We answered your questions about the treatment. I know ask you answer those same questions about your treatments before moving any further with this. I reposted those questions here so you can answer them here or in the other thread.

Since I don’t want to be accused of dodging your Car analogy. I will give you my take on it. I have just finished see all the problems with the WidjaDinja I turn to the Dealer.
And say "Well the WidjaDinja doesn’t seem right to me. However my situation is that I have 4 kids I have to get to school and then travel more then 100 miles one way to work. I need something that will get my kids to school and get me to work. I have to function I have to live. You got an alternative for me?"
Dealer: "Sure we do we got this bicycle here for you."
Me: "A bike how am I suppose to fix my situation with a bike."
Dealer: "well I guess you could put a basket on the handle bars and have another kid hang on your back. You can get two of the kids to school at a time that way but you have to make two trips.
Me: OK, but what about work its over 100 miles one way."
Dealer: "well I have heard that you can average 20 miles per hour on a bike."
Me: "So it would take me over 5 hours to get to work and 5 hours back.
Dealer: "Yeah but think of all the fresh air and exercise you get. It will be great for you."
Me: "Ok, I guess that a good point. But how safe is this bike."
Dealer: "What do you mean how safe is it, its a bike."
Me: "you mean there are no federal safety regulations for this bike or federal safety reports I can read on this bike."
Dealer: "well no bikes don’t require that"
Me: "So what do I do if the bike breaks down for some reason or just won’t work in my situation."
Dealer: "Well not much I can do for you but the bike is much cheaper then the car and if it doesn’t work at least you got some exercise."
Me: "That’s all nice and good but I need something that will get my kids to school and me to work. You want me to try something that may or may not be safe as there are no tests as regards its safety and could be very time consuming."
Dealer: "I guess your right, but what else is there to do?"
Me "The WidjaDinja is not the only car out here, how about you show me some other models. I would also like a federal safety crash test and reliability reports on all the other model cars you have."
I review the many reports on the different cars and then chose the "Thingingmabob" I go to the dealer and tell him my choice.
I mention to him how I find the safety and reliability reports for this car acceptable to me. And as long as I get regular maintenance and tune-ups on the car is should run fine. If I am not Happy with the car and can trade it in until I am happy.
We all see our own way don’t we. Plus its fun to "What if" and make believe isn’t it.

Thanks for the responses, people. Believe it or not, I appreciate it all.
I don't expect everyone to agree with me. That would be pretty dull anyway.
I push one way, you push the other.
What I did take offense to is the "give it a rest" remark. I never tell anyone else to "give it a rest" just because they may say something that I don't agree with.
However, I am not overly upset about it and I'll consider it a momentary slip of the keyboard.
Roll on.

Jor-EL,
I think the "give it a rest" rest comment probably comes from the fact that your last 3 or 4 posts have been making the assumption that meds never work and the only thing that does is CLO. No one has any idea where that thought process comes from.
