High Gas Prices!
Question:

T HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES. AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.
THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR BEHIND" DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.
THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.
WAITING ON THIS ADMIINSTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?
REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.
SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

................................the price of a refined gallon of gasoline today is $.81, that is about $.10 cheaper than it was in 1991. Almost 70% of the crude we refine in America, comes from North America. The problem occurs when we switch over from heating oil to gasoline refining and back, the stockpiling that takes place is based on guess work, not the best of ways to do it. Then demand outstrips supply and as with anything, the less you have the more it costs. Most of the cost of gasoline comes from graduated surcharges(based on $ per barrel) ie state and local taxes, the cost of specialty refining for certain geographical areas(remember BMT or whatever acronym the EPA foisted on us contaminating ground water? Blame who?), then your Federal highway taxes and the MOTHER of all costs and SNAFUs: We have not built a new refinery in this country in 20+ years! Between the EPA, the not in my backyarders and assorted other environmental(mental being the operative word) extremists using the courts to stifle new construction, expansion and upgrades the cost becomes prohibitive. If we would only let capitalist formulas breath a little in this country, gasoline would be cheap and plentiful again. Like the Bronze Age, Iron Age etc we live in the Oil Age - there is plenty available - we need to stop treating and acting like it is a bad thing! We also need to stop letting small %s of our nations population use it as a tool for control! DRILL MORE, REFINE MORE this country and the world would be a much better place. I'll get off my soap box now! :D

PS Our PU trucks and SUVs are a red herring, most of the oil consumed in America, is used to generate electricity. Think about where the demonization of "BIG OIL" comes from, then decide if you want to protest.

...........................a nut shell version hon. My guess is, nothing would make the oil companys happier, it would give respit to their delivery system and probably save them more money than you have been led to believe would be taken from them. Just something to think about. Love ya!:D

I think I'll just stop driving. I have no income and there's no way I'm gonna pay $2.05 for a gallon of gas. Why can't we all use gasohol. It's clean burning and cheap so everyone will love it. Brazil hasn't used gasoline in years. Their cars run off of alcohol made from sugar cane.

............................get on the phone and key board to your local, state and federal elected officials(read politician) and DEMAND that they draft and introduce legislation that repeals taxes on refined gasoline. Then DEMAND that they do the same relative to relief for exploration(read DRILLING), new refinery construction and natural gas pipeline constuction. At the pump prices for regular unleaded would soon be less than $1.00.:D

Eric,
Part, not all but part, of the reason gas in Oregon is more then the national average, is due to the fact that we can't have self-service gas stations.
So all gas stations must hire someone to pump gas, thus raising the price in order to meet salary demands.
I don't know how it is around Portland, but down here in Salem, I could pump my one gas and be halfway to the Foundation, before I even get waited on by an attendant.
Got to love that government intervention!

Here in NJ, we also have full service only. Traditionally, we have been one of the cheapest states in the nation for gas.
PS - I know how you feel. There have been many times when I could pump my owe gas and be halfway to the Foundation, before I even get waited on by an attendant.
