Iris from Spain??
Question:

Has anyone seen a post from Iris lately? Given the tragic event in Madrid, which is where Iris lives, I am concerned. She is such a sweet person and her posts are always so nice. I know she posts here pretty often.

Hi everyone....OK I had this crazy idea...Does anyone on here read spanish??? Here is the link to a newspaper in Madrid.
http://mad.metrospain.com/
I can only pick out a few words. But somewhere in one of the Spain /Madrid newspapers they might list the names of the injured...and possibly the victims who didn't make it...Without knowing Iris's last name it's a long shot....just an idea....

Now we have to find out where Malaga is...how far from Madrid...ok off to Google...

Good work Molly...
I hope Iris checks in soon...I've been thinking about her

Answers:

Assuming this is up to date, her profile says that she returned to the south of Spain after living for awhile in Madrid. If that is the case, she would not be near the explosion site.

Answers:

I hope she checks in soon!!

Answers:

Well, I can see that she was on 3-11 at 3:29PM...I don't know who's time that is...West Coast?

Answers:

I sent Iris an email yesterday, telling her to report in, but yet to hear back from her.
I'm sure she is fine, Molly is correct she lives some distance from Madrid.

Dear all....
First of all I am sorry to have worried you..the lasts months I havenīt posted much since I have tons of work and I have also been preparing exams for law university.
Then, secondly...you canīt imagine how touched I am about your mails at this thread and also all the PMīs I have had. (didnīt get your email Fred !?!).
Thank you all for careing about me !! Really, I am VERY touched!!
THANK YOU!!!!
Right now I live in the south of Spain (good job Molly!!), about 500 km from Madrid, but one of the explotions happened at 200 meters from where I used to live in Madrid... very scary idea !
Spain is in shock...thatīs the only way I can think about to describe the situation right now. We are used to "local" terrorism, that is also terrible, but "usually selective" (politics, militars, police etc), but this is absolutelly been against the civilians. Just people that were going to work/study.
By now there are 201 dead people, but there are still 44 in a very critic state at the hospitals. There have been more that 1400 wounded people. Incredible.
3 days later (sunday) we had general elections, millions of people went out to demonstrate, all over the country (almost half of the population), we have never had so many people out demanding from the government to get information. And specially saturday night (the day before the elections) the "ambiance" was VERY tense...thousands of people again demonstrating, and I believe that if it had gone a bit further, the goverment would have send the militars out to remove the people. VERY VERY tense. The elections changed the goverment since people have been (and also demonstrated) against the Irak war, and specially after it was know that there was no chemical weapons whatsoever, so the intention of the war was just economical and not due to real chemical danger. Spanish people are willing to help defend a necesary situation, but they hate the fact of been lied to about the real intentions.
How ever, we are all in shock and worried about the near future since itīs know (we already new before the Madrid attack) that there is a van here in the south (to be more exact, in Málaga, were I live!) full of explosives. The police is searching for it, but without any results until now. The terrorists did hit the government, and know they are going for the economic side of the country, and if they can hit the tourist side (mayor income for Spain) thery will not avoid to do so.
Weīll see what happens...but I can tell you for sure that there is a very calm tense in the air !!
Best regards from a very sad Spain !! and again, THANK YOU for being there!! Love you all !!!
