Question:
Hi again, my name is Diane, and I've had P AND PA for 20 some years, but the last 2 yrs. have been horrible, with only about 3 weeks of clean skin. I guess I'm lucky because only my hands and feet are affected. But my P is the Pustular type, and I've had one infection after an another. I just started Raptiva 3 weeks ago, and I wondered if anyonelse out there is on it, and how they are making out. I'd love to hear from some of you guys.My depression has been at an all time low, and to make some new friends would be great. Thanks.
Diane
I don't have the pustular form of P but I do have PA. Glad you have joined us. There are a lot of great people in our "family" and it's great to have a place to talk to people who understand.
There are several here that have P on their hands and feet and they will certainly be able to help you cope. We tend to get a little silly and crazy in the conversation forum, but we have become great friends here. There is much help and advice on the P and PA forums and by all means please check out the Aches and Flakes gallery and Deb's Fun House.

Hi again, Diane,
Although I have the plaque form of p, and am not diagnosed with pa, I have been in a clinical trial for Raptiva. I had good results with it, which I started to see around the 3rd week, so you may start to see something soon. I saw continued improvement through the study, which lasted 12 weeks, and got about 75% improvement by that time. The only side effect I had was a pretty good rebound after going off the drug.
I hope that you get good results with this new drug. I am curious as to what the treatment plan is if the drug works for you. Does your derm plan to leave you on it longer than 12 weeks? If not, be sure to have a backup plan in place in case you also experience the rebound, which seems to be fairly common. Good luck. :)
I am sorry that your going through a rough time right now. I have been on Raptiva for 6 weeks now and I have had no luck. Maybe it takes the full 12 weeks to go into effect. I hope that you have good sucess on Raptiva.. Good luck.. You should try the chat room it is a great way to meet and talk through problems or fustrations you are feeling. It reminds me that Im not alone..
