Hey Guys!
I'm home and alive.
You may not have missed me but, I missed all of you!:D :D :D
DH and I went to PA. to visit our families and friends. We had a great time! And the trip up from FL. was sooooooooooo nice.
Our visit there was great!
Our trip back to FL. was the trip from HELL!!
We had to stay in N.C. in a motel from the 50"s. I cannot begin to tell you how bad it was. Let it suffice to say that I didn't take a shower and I slept in my clothes. I took off my turtleneck and wrapped it around my pillow so that I didn't have to lay my head on that horrible place! The dog didn't mind anything!:cool:
I was so desperate that I told my DH that we could probably slip over to P.J.'s. Well that was ---WHO'S PJ?
I understood where he was coming from. He just wanted to get home.
The dog was sick and we spent $200.00 to deal with yet another pet problem.
I wouldn't trade our adventure for anything.
Well---maybe ----sunshine, no bumper to bumper traffic and let's skip COLD WEATHER!!!
Well Mama,,,,,,,,,,,,,Let's call that an experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that you will never forget,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nice to have you back safe!!!!!!!now crawl in your nice bed and sleep well!!!!!!!!!
Yikes, Mama! Sounds like you were wise to be afraid if the dog got sick! :eek: Glad you're home safe and sound. Sleep well in your own little beddy-by. ;)
Just Glad you arrie safe and sound. Hope all is well. Got to be careful where you stay along the road that would have never happened at hotel Rosy.

We were on I75 on Saturday night and saw LOTS of different license plates! Lot's of travelers hope everyone is home safe and sound now.
We had a not so good hotel room on Friday night...couldn't really say no since it was being paid for by someone else for us...It was the kind you enter from the outside and is a non-smoking room that smells like an ashtray!
I slept with one eye open and no skin touching the sheets LOL
Seriously it wasn't *that* bad.... i'm just spoiled

and stay at hotels alot doing the art and craft shows.....but I am like the queen of clean when it comes to a clean room...for one thing I book in advance through orbitz.com or expedia.com or even hotels.com
and we never stay at any of the lower priced motels....I go for suites usually (for 2-3 day stays) and have gotten unbelievable prices...(priceline is another good one) we've had suites for under $50....of course when traveling and not knowing when you will get tired enough to stop, is another story. Lately, having a laptop, I've been able to figure how many hours from point A to B and made our reservations from the last hotel we were in...
cause you always get a better price than a walk-in gets....now when it comes to covers......we each have our own quilts that we travel with...and i have my own pillow, so all we use are the bottom sheets......I don't like crispy floors so have a pair of slippers too, just for hotel carpeting...... :D get the picture?
dh would sit on the bedspread (and has) til I cringe and say something...he would probably sleep on one too ugh!!! did anyone happen to see the special 60 mins or 20/20 had a couple years ago on showing all the dirt in hotel rooms? some with a blue light that showed everything that normal lighting didn't show if you get the drift!!!!!!:eek:
Oh Sally! I saw that show and just tried to keep my mind on other things!

I too, am spoiled but, I need to stay where they will take my dog because the family wouldn't forgive us if we came without her. Next trip North will be on an airplane. I'll leave the dog home with my DH. Everyone will just have to understand. I'm HIGH maintenance when it comes to traveling and I'm too old to change. If I can't do it RIGHT, I just don't want to go.

The trip was not fun but, the time we got to spend with family and friends was FANTASTIC!!! And that's what really matters. I'll get over the traveling part---someday!:)

Time was a great factor though. My darling DH had to get back to his "new baby"---it's an insurance agency. I support him though. And it keeps him out of trouble!;) ;) ;)

A mere 90 miles from us here in North Jersey and she didn't let us know. :eek: We would have gladly made the trip south. We could have done South Street or Penns Landing or DiNardo's etc., etc.
Let us know next time you come north. It's always great to meet people from the Board and we love road trips.

I just never thought about contacting any of my NPF friends about getting together.
Of course, with all of my huge family and my husbands fair sized family and all the friends from a lifetime we really didn't have much free time.
Tell you what---When I go up in June or July---we'll get together.
If I fly into PHL, one of you can pick me up at the airport or I'll rent a car and go straight to DiNardo"s or any other place we can decide on.

BTW Mama............the hotel beds.....been there.....got many of "those t-shirts!!!" AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH.........just a quickie, I had several athletes with me and we were traveling down 275 (probably the same place..hehe)..........we HAD to stop and sleep.........well the kids put on all their clothes, they had shirts on their heads, mittens made from shorts........and one of the kids slept sitting up "I am not touching those beds!!!!"...........it was a trip, but great memories I will never forget......we laugh so hard when we recall the story.
Glad that you are "home" again!!!!!!!

Brings to mind what my darling daughter did a few years back on a family trip to Dublin. We chked in went to our rooms and ran down to the bar and restaurant to check things out---that's DH and I. In comes the DD with a scowl on her face. She explained that her room was not as clean as she wanted and she was going to management (20yrs. old mind you ) and demand that they change the bedding. They could not accommodate her so she told them to give her the key to the linen room and she would take care of things herself. They agreed. She stripped her bed, threw all the linens out her door and remade it!
DH and I had the common sense not to get involved. We stayed in the bar and ordered a drink!!!
I must say both the athletes you were dealing with and our DD were RESOURCEFUL!!!
MIke is right. Love a road trip. We would have been there. Hopefully next . Happy and healthy New Year
