Question:
We are having a christmas party tonight and want the house to smell great...isn't there a concoction that you can simmer on the stove that will make the house smell christmasie and nice?
Any tips will be greatly appreciated

Here you go Denise...this is from HGTV website:
The odor of a home can really make a difference between a welcome environment and an unpleasant one, and may even affect the moods of the inhabitants. To add instant fragrance, simmer some pleasant herbs and spices on the stove. Cinnamon and nutmeg are great for the holidays; rosemary and oregano work well anytime. Add a touch of vanilla for a sweet smell.
like me and buy it by the bag....usually called simmering potpourri.
My daughter bought me the simmering pot and several bags one year...much safer than the stove........party on!!
(I think candle stores have it or dollar stores maybe)
In the past I have simmered cinnamon sticks, or ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. (of course you need to add some water to that, and keep an eye on it, because it will stink if it scorches dry)
Or you could simmer mulling spices, in water, OR simmer some mulled cider to serve (then it serves two purposes).
Hope this helps !
