About Membership
Question:

It's a little disconcerting to look into signing up for membership and find no information about cost without first giving extensive personal information.
If this information is someplace obvious that I missed I apologize, but what is the fee?
Also... if any of you really feel it's worth the cost, I'd love to hear why. I've donated to research but never joined the NPF or any similar group yet.

Answers:

I think that they suggest that you pay something like $25 or $30, but will accept lower amounts. This is a non-profit organization, so they have basically 3 revenue sources: membership fees, direct donations and ad revenue in their magazine. They use that to support the staff that does various things, such as advocacy for the coverage of psoriasis-relieving medications, questions on how to handle insurance companies, produce the magazine, maintain the website etc. You also get access to more info, and don't need to battle through ads and the like to use a discussion forum, which is how 'free' web boards often support themselves.
They dont really ask for much personal information. Other than your email address, your mailman already knows everything they asked for, especially if one of your bills ever arrived unglued! I believe the membership fees are tax deductible if you itemize, but am not certain of that.
Their policy states that they do not sell any info on their members to any other group, so I don't think the info part is a big deal. I joined abt 6 months ago, and have never gotten any email from anyone other than NPF.

THANKS!
I've donated in the past but never "joined" and I have a thing about typing in the info before knowing what the punchline will be.
I learned the hard way never to give out that information lightly. My mum offered to give me this as a Christmas present when she heard me speaking about it, so I feel comfortable with that amount.
I appreciate the response!
