Hey Annie and welcome, just wanted to say that I have been away and I am trying to catch up with all the new people here. Sorry I live on the other side of the country in Los Angeles. However I have to agree this place is awesome with helping one cope.

I'm from Naugatuck, Connecticut.
I was born in Presque Isle, Maine in 1950. My parents moved to West Haven, CT when I was 7 months old, then moved to Shelton, CT when I was 7 years old. Lived in Shelton until I graduated High School and joined the military (I'm a Viet Nam era vet). After discharge, I moved to Ansonia, CT, then back to Shelton for about 7 years, then Naugatuck in 1983.
Naugatuck is a nice town. Quiet. However, it did have a very bad reputation for many years when the rubber factory was still in operation here and an unpleasant odor permeated most of the air around town. But that factory closed up many many years ago
and in recent years, people with money have moved in and property values have gone up greatly around here. They've also did some renovation down town (torn down some old buildings, built knew ones, fixed the sidewalks, beautified the town green, etc..).
I'm not sure what town you live in, but if you've never been to Naugatuck, take a drive through some day. I think you may like it.
