TVCats, Torry1, Coach or anyone else that's a figure skating enthusiast... I've been watching Skate America
and come to find out that they have a new method of keeping score. I do not like it as it's very confusing.
What do y'all think of the new scoring? Also, how come there weren't any of the old regulars in the men's
division skating except Michael Weiss & Takeshi Honda from China?
I don't know Heps.....but I sure like your "new" signature, real neat outfit "your're" wearing!! (Can I borrow the jeans?????)

TVCats posted a link with the skating schedule all the way to May 2004.
I think the date she posted is around the 26th. or so, as she had her picture
with Todd posted on the 27th. I was hunting for it but couldn't locate it & I'm
too tired to really really look for it. Sorry,,, however, if you can't find it, I'll try &
hunt for it, just because it's for you!!! Seeeeeeeee, aren't I sweet????????

Well, I saw about the first 20 minutes of the show before I passed out on the couch :confused: I noticed the new scoring system, but was too tired to give it much thought. I'll have to check it out next time from an upright position. :rolleyes:
Hi! Sorry that I've been missing in action.
New scoring system: I think the jury is still out on this. I think it has some good things about it, but right now it is *very* confusing. But I hope that the new scoring makes the judges score what is done right rather than reward elements that aren't done properly -- just because they were attempted (ie: bad quads).
As for the skater lineup: Skate America is one of the Grand Prix events & there are several of those throughout the season. Skaters can only compete in a total of 3 Grand Prix events, plus their national federation usually assigns what skaters attend what events. So chances are that if they weren't at Skate America, they might be at a couple of other GP events later on.
Plus, there have been several skaters that have "retired" from eligible skating over the past couple of years -- Elvis Stojko, Alexei Yagudin, and Todd Eldredge are the first three that come to mind. And Tim Goebel withdrew due to problems with his skates.
As for the ladies, Sarah Hughes has opted to stop skating in order to attend Yale & Michelle Kwan has decided not to compete in the GP events this season. Irina Slutskaya has been seriously ill and I don't know when we'll see her compete again.
As for the pairs and dance -- oh boy! That reads a little like a soap opera. LOL But if you have someone you'd like to ask about, I will try to help as much as possible.

No Pammywammy, but I really haven't studied it too much. Tonight is the Nationals
& that's on the regular way of scoring.
