if you were confused by the "Chat Room for Dummies' title, she wasn't saying that we needed a chatroom for stupid people. There is a line of how-to books in the States which started out with 'Windows for Dummies'
and unfortunately (at least in my mind) that phrase took off as the title of all sorts of books, you know like 'Cooking for Dummies' , 'Auto Repair for Dummies'..

Reminds me of when I was Sec/Treas. of a bowling league and one couple was Korean. She came up to me and told me their partners were "laid out" and could we help them find them new partnersw? My first thought was dead, and it shocked me. Actually he was "laid off" from work and couldn't afford the league anymore.
Anyone else know of a cultural misunderstanding? I have another, but not sure it can be put on here. It concerns the German word for shower. There was one once about a chevy car that didn't sell well in Mexico because of it's name. But, I can't remember what it was.
I never said anything about "chatroom dummies" I asked for a dictionary for dummies like me who don't understand the chatroom slang. I suppose I'd have a problem understanding Australian slang too, if I didn't have family in Ballerat, Australia.

I'm sorry, I read your post too quick and thought you wrote 'chatroom for dummies' but not because you meant anything bad. It just made me think of all of the dopey books with that title. (I actually saw a book awhile back called 'Bible for Dummies'.)
