What you have there is a rarely seen optical view of the vortex of time. In other words, if you were to stumble upon a gateway to the past or future, this is what you would see during your departure from the present. Good luck on your trip!

Are you going to ever tell us what it is?

Sure is pretty!!

I was running fractals on my Commodore 128 Computer back in 1985. Not as colorful as today's. But the fractal mathmatics has been around since computers with screens.

Answers:

Still talking about the picture? Gen and LastCat are right, it's a section of a fractal - a shape with fractional dimensions. This particular fractal is the most well know of all the fractals, and is called the Mandelbrot Set. Fractals are graphical depictions of special iterative functions (functions that act upon themselves). If you want to see more detail click here. The sets of functions that generate the Mandelbrot set and other fractals are also referred to as "strange attractors"
All of this has nothing to do with intelligence. Either you've been exposed to the math or you haven't. I think only Southpaw agrees with me on what I think is the answer.
