Question:
Today Nick moved out (he is my oldest son--23 in Nov.) We just dropped him off at the airport, he is flying himself to S. Carolina to take a computer/flying job!!! Ugh, it's hard!
I've heard people expressing their feelings about when their children leave..............but until it happens to you, you can never understand the feeling. :( It's a sad day, but also a happy one--I know he has a great future ahead.
Denise, he's in your state, can ya check up on him for me???? :)
Hi Pam,
I wish Nick lot's of luck, what a great adventure he is about to have! I know how you feel, my daughter moved out three years ago to attend college, although she's only 11 miles away it seems like it's further because we don't see her every week. It will get easier as time goes by.
At least my house is cleaner :) ....And the best part is, they always come back to visit!!
xo,
Karen
Hi Karen, thanks for the encouraging words..............you're right!!! (He first went away this summer to Arizona, but I knew he was coming back..this is different though!! Plus being a pilot, he will have many opportunities to come home!!! yeah!! :)
PS...can't wait to meet you in December.........I hope so much that you will be there!!!:)
Hi Coach - if it will make you feel any better, I can drive up, stay out too late and throw my underwear on the floor... :D
Just kidding... sending love from Miami to the Panhandle.
xo,
Krista
Hi Pam,
I'm sorry for your sadness... i'm sure you are so proud of him too.... he loves you and will come back and be in touch, make sure he has email too! :)
He'll love SC and so will you when you come visit!
:)
Denise
.Denise. you were the firse one to answer me when I started on the message board and I always wondered where you were!!! Now I know you aare from SC ..Glad to meet you I am from MN just 8 miles from the Iowa boarder, in a small town called Albert Lea. Is there anyone out there close to me??? elaine
geez, i never moved out of the house until the night i got married at 24. i hope my kids move out before then. anyway, i grant you strength and courage to make it thru these next years. you must have done good getting them this far. . . . .
i just scheduled a bunch of dr. appts. for myself. i'm falling apart. i'll keep you posted.
take care and i'll catch up with you soon.
god bless,
Now your going to make me cry Pam. It is so hard for a mother to see her children grown and off on their own but by the same token we have spent years raising them for that very day.
Know that your investment has paid off and he is embarking on what seems to be a very exciting life flying planes.
This is a job well done!
Marie

awwwww hi elaine,
sweet of you to remember me.

P.S. My mother's name is Elaine
Hi Pam-
Just 2 years ago, my sister and I packed up my car and drove 3000 miles away from my mom and family- I'll never forget the image of her crying in the driveway as we drove away... but she was jumping up and down at the same time! She was so excited for us, but I know it broke her heart to watch us leave. She and my father have been nothing but supportive of our decision to move so far from home... And it sounds like you feel the same about your son moving so far away. It must take so much strength and love to let your children go. And I'm sure he is so thankful to have such a loving and supportive mom! I know I am so blessed to have just that!
Cheer up, he'll be home to visit before you know it :)
Have a good night,
Katie

Aww Pammie, I know how you feel believe me, all will be O.K. in time. It's just like when one's child first gets to ride a two wheeler bike; take the car out for the first time; goes off to college or even had stayed out late. I know, you say but then you know that they will come home; he'll come home this time too!!! I went through all of them plus my son went to Viet Nam (sp?) & he's the only one I've got. Thank God he came home. Just keep him in your prayers Pammie & he will be just fine & you too.
Luv ya.....

Pam,
I can only imagine how you feel...I'm still at the "I can't wait for them to outgrow the teenage years" stage.
I have a friend whose son just left a few weeks ago for boot camp and basic training in the Air Force, and I know how hard it has been for her. :( She is so excited to go see him graduate this week. :)
Just remember, he'll probably come back with a girl, a dog, and 3 cats... :p ...so enjoy it for now. He'll always be your little boy.
Kim
Thanks everyone again!!! Gym was weird last night because Nick has been my assistant coach for the past 3 years.......the girls were sad. :(
There is one good thing about him not being here, and that is.....everytime he would go on a flight (which is almost daily) I would be nervous for him (the gray hair effect)...now I won't 'know' every time he flies!!!
Guess where were going this weekend??? :D To visit Nick!!!! Actually, I'm not THAT bad, we are just taking the big stuff up to him (stuff that couldn't fit in that SMALL plane that he flies)!!!
I love you all...you have been so very supportive.
ARL...thanks for offering luggage...OX

I know ALL ABOUT how hard it is to say goodbye. LOL I just don't know much about the whole child part. But still, I can completely empathize with you and I hope you know that if you ever need some "goodbye" tips or ways to cope with something like this, I'M YOUR WOMAN! :) He's got a wonderful future ahead of him, you should be PROUD :)

FlakeyMatthew
Pammie, as Kim said, "He'll always be your little boy."
