Question:
Hey folks,
Maybe I'm just not online enough when others are chatting, but ever since the chat format has changed, I have been unable to connect with anyone via chat.
I have popped into chat on occasion, and have seen remnants of a conversation...yet no one is in chat with me, just their words from who knows how long ago--that's confusing to me all together! :confused:
Also, I liked the feature that we used to have...the one where you could hover your cursor over the chat link to see how many and who was in the chat room. Not that I avoid people, but it's nice to know what you're getting into before busting into a room.
It seems that this new chat has a lot of features to offer, but I have yet to even have the opportunity to put it to the test! :(
Am I alone in this? Anyone else out there have a similar experience, or would like to chime in with their own opinion?

nope your not alone. i guess we are going in at the wrong time. i try to check around 9:00pm-9:30pm est(nc time) sometime i try to check inthe afternoon but thetimes varies on the days im off. but always get the same. i have been lucky to reach one person one time but that has been it, one fellow did pm and mentioned he was in but must have missed him too. have a great day. mandy
I used to love to go into chat, but no one is ever there and I too liked the old system where you knew how many was in chat and then you could even see who it was. Awww..... for the good old days again. Made many wonderful friends in chat. Would like to make new ones (and keep the old ones.)
I am with you in your concerns Diana. The old chat was better. The most one can say with this new version are the animated features and the differing smiley faces. Both unecessary features. I have been in chat generally in the evenings and have been able to find the same ol' names...SamanthaW, Rustyrose, Actress, jeff, polo123, and on occassion Drea. Mikek used to be a regular in the past.

I think the problem is that you never know if anyone is in chat or not. I liked the old way when you could see if someone was in there and who was in there. I used to go in there all the time when I saw people in there. Now you have no way of knowing if anyone is in there until you click on it.

I used to be in chat all the time, but I can count on one hand the number of times that I've been in chat since the format changed. Like most of the others have said, the feature I really miss is knowing if someone is in chat, and who it is. If there's any way to bring that feature back, I think we'd find alot more people popping in there. I've also made some great friends in chat, and been able to help people with questions that needed an answer right away, and I really miss that. :(
soon as you click on the chat button you can see if anyone is in it before you log into chat.if nooe is showing in it just hut the backspace button and your back to the page you were at before you entered chat.

I've gone into chat and stayed there for a very long time in the hopes that somone would join me. :( Unfortunately, since no one knows that I'm in there, I usually just give up and move on to other things.
I've noticed that people sometimes post: "Please join me in chat" that's also something that hasn't happened (at least not on a regular basis) since the very early days of the board.
Hopefully, the ability to tell that there's someone in there will be restored in the not to distant future!

I check chat a few times during the day, once in awhile. Not every day, but if I have time to sit and chat, usually in the evenings. Rarely is anyone in there. Almost never, actually. I always thought my problem was that when I am ready to chat, other users are ready for bed. The "regular" chatters seem to be n a different time zone, 3 hours ahead of me. I never used the old chat, so I can't say anything about that, but I have seen better chat formats.
I don't know. I like the new chat, expcept for like you guys are saying.....you can't see how many are in the room before hand. I like being able to chat with everyone, but it sucks to spend the time going into the room, and nobody is there when you get in. I do like the cool new features though. They are just fun. I guess it's give and take, but why can't they just give us back that one feature where you can see how many are in there first?

You can see how many are in the room. It'll say 1/100, 3/100 or so on. You just don't know who's in the room, so shy people might not want to join the chat. I was nervous about joining chat, not knowing who was there, but I'm glad I did. I've met a few people that I might not have met otherwise.
I went to chat tonight and there were 5 people there! Probably 8 came and went by the time I left. It was fun!
The computer wont let me go in the chat room til tomorrow. Im nervous and other stuff.
