My husband ordered the books from Amazon a couple days ago. We are now trying to decide who gets to read it first :p

I've never read a Harry Potter book.... :o or seen any of the movies.
BUT, I did see a film about the author and I was really happy for her as she really struggled early in life!

Seriously I was a guy that thought the whole Harry Potter thing was kiddy and stupid. One day me and my g/f (ex) went to go watch 13 Ghosts. It was so bad that I asked her if she wanted to go sneak into another movie and she said sure. So I looked up and saw Harry Potter adn the Sorcerers Stone starting in like 5 minutes. I walked in and was blown away at how well done the movie was. I felt like a kid again and enjoyed every dang minute of it.
Then i caught the second flick and loved it also. So I was heading to the desert for 4 months and decided to pick up all the books that were out (4 at the time I believe). The books were sooooo good.
Seriously..I could not believe I was a Harry Potter geek now. And was not ashamed to admit. When the 3rd movie came out I grabbed all my friends and MADE them go with me. Of course I had to buy the first round of drinks and shot when we left the theater and went to the club.
I CAN NOT WAIT TO READ THE 7TH BOOK. I'm so damn excited! I cant wait to get back to the states and watch the most recent movie also.
To bad the 7th is the last. I'm sad about that... :(


So, Matt, et al, What do you think? What is going to happen? She says two will die in this book. My bets are on Voldemort and Harry. Why Harry? Well, as we all know that scar means something more then she has let us know. So, did it become an accidental Horcurx when The Dark Lord attempted to kill Harry? Will Harry have to sacrifice himself so that Voldemort can be killed. And I think Snape is going to be the one who makes the final blow on both of them!
Comments? Thoughts?


Also! Hasn't she shown amazing growth as a writer from book One to book Six? I have really been impressed! Her skills and thought processes have really come through to the reader. It has been so much fun following this series. If this can't help our young people get excited about reading, I don't know what can!


I read 1-4 and I loved em'...I own the 5th but I can't get into it, I've read the first 100 pages twice..still nothing. My best friend though, is going tonight with her dad for the midnight thing. She is funny, I wanted to see if she could hang Saturday and she told me no because she had to read. I pointed out that the ending would be the same if it was delayed 3 hours...it was then I realized it wasn't that she had to read the book..it was that she had to read it BEFORE her dad [everyone in her house has a copy] she wants to beat him at reading it.
haha I thought that was funny.


I know how she feels Dee! I'm thinking about going out at midnight to buy a copy so I can race my husband to the end of the book! He isn't as big a fan as I am, but he will be bugging me to finish reading so he can have the book. :D


I have NO clue what's gonna happen in this book and I seriously dont want to know..lol. I was a victim of the 'Snape kills...' spoiler last book. My fault though for not reading the book right away. I had it and waited almost a week to start reading it..then it was spoiled and then it took me almost 6 months to start reading it.
All I know is that I want the BX here to get the book so I can get it. Then as soon as I get out of here, I'm gonna get a hotel room in Doha and sit in a nice relaxing bath and read my butt off.

I never said we wouldnt get it. The BX is our shopping place. They usually get a lot of stuff, but sometimes it just doesnt come in right away like the states. I'm HOPING it does though..lol. We'll see.


I am anti-harry. Dunno why. Just never liked it.


You should give it another try Nikki. Start at book 1. She is an amazing writer. And you can really watch her growth as a writer with each new book. The difference in her writing ability from book 1 to book 6 is phenomenal. I so wish I had her talent, to be able to come up with an original idea and original settings, gosh, you have to admire that! She deserves every penny she makes on the books and the movie rights. She has worked hard to get where she is. And to think 12 years ago she was flat broke writing on napkins. That is a Cinderella story of its own.


So the book came out at midnight, my friend was the first one to get her book. They did a drawing for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd places in line. They did 3rd first, and it was 1 number away, then they did 2nd it was far off, as well as first. But..the first place person wasn't there so they drew again..and it was her. She said she screamed sooo loud everyone heard her..including her dad who was getting starbucks across the store :) haha So she got her book at 12:01 =] She is still so excited she can't read...haha. =]
I went to see the 5th movie tonight..it was good.. I liked it. :D


I justed finished reading the 7th book. I LOVED the ending. That was the best book ever. I got it at 12:07 on Friday night. I even got one of the cardboard boxes that the books came in. So that's a new record for me. 2 1/2 days.

Does anyone know if there are plans to capture the remaining books on film?
I don't really know, but how many books are there in the series? and how many movies have been made so far?


There are 7 books, and will be 7 movies, there are 5 movies including the one that just came out.
There is one book for every year the students spend at Hogswart.
There were also two "Hogswarts" text books, "The History of Quidditch" and "Magical Creatures and Where to Find Them" They were about 50 pages each, and the proceedes went to charity.

thankfully here in Australia it was 9 am when we could get the book. I love reading them ALL and watching all the movies. I read the book in two days :) It was great and answered so many questions that I had at the end of the 6th book.
I took my boys to see the movie the day after it came out. Loved that too. I can't wait for the next movie to see how they share that with us.
