Question:
ok 1st thanks for looking at my thread!
everyone says i can sing but i dont believe i can. mym mum offered to pay £20 an hour for a singing coach for me! but i dont have very much confidence!
can you help me?? i want to be a singer but i dont no how to get to that stage! what is the next stage towards the career everyone so desperatly wants?? and where do i go from here??
my cousin is a very good singer she is in her 20's she could of done something with the voice she had but she never and everyone says i sound like here already and im only 14! what do i do??
Fantastic that you have a great singing voice at age 14; and that your mum is supportive of paying for voice lessons. I'm not in show business, but there are many accounts of people who started in local venues, and then moved on to the recording industry. Tina Turner started over again in local venues; Andrea Bocelli sang in local places and paid for voice lessons with his tip money; even the Beatles had to play in some dives before they were discovered. Are you in a band; or have you auditioned for a band? What about weddings; school dances; etc. to get started? If its your dream, then just start. Best of luck in your singing career.

I'm not in the music industry either....but I would think the first step would be to ADMIT IT! There is nothing wrong with embracing your talent. *hugs* and best of luck to you.
fanx sooo much u are so kind!
With words like mate and mum I assume your British. If so, your mate, Simon Cowel has a singing competition show here called American Idol. I believe there is a version in your area as well. If my assumtion is correct, then go and audition.
Hey!!
i think youre well on your way with an awesome voice, and hopefully singing lessons from your mom.
i dont know much about the music business, so i dont know much about how you can get "into" it, but you're definately going to have to prepare some demos, etc to send out to places if you want to be sponsored.
all i can really say is---- you can do whatever you put your mind to.

Stacey,
Like anything in life, relentless practice can only make you better. Try volunteering for any upcoming special events so you can practice your musical skills in actual public setting. Make sure to video record any of your singing appearances and/or practices so you can evaluate your performance and gain some feedback. Music tend to repeat every generation or so (I think), so get a hold of any olds music and imitate the artists that please you and add/change the lyric to your own taste and style. This will help start building up your own style while still fresh and young. Read lots of books on the life of musical performers, especially how they build their career in music, to gain some perspective. I don't know how popular Myspace.com is in UK, but the creators of that website was started by 2 artists (I think) to advertise their musics and expand their fan base. You could do something similar...
That's all I could think of for now... good luck and may you become one of the top musical artist!

check you local town for 'co-operative' studios or council sponsored venues..there are often lots of adverts for all sorts of bands who need singers..you could even put an advert in your local free paper...once you get out giging people will notice you...but it will be hard work.
remember if you think you have some talent you will someday have to say so and prove it...so go for it!! :)
Church and Karoke.
You can buy Karoke CDs that play in a normal CD player. Of course you can't see the lyrics like in a true karoke machine.
You can also buy cheap karoke CD machines that come with a mic, but still don't have a screen.
School plays can also be good practice getting used to being in front of people.
Good luck,
Dennis
